What is going on? Every senior female distance runner is gone. All the freshmen when Coach Lake took over. Every women in her first recruiting class excpet Wright is now gone. Are they being replaced by better runners or are things a mess there?

Woah, let's not jump to hasty conclusions here. Great programs have tons of runners randomly disappear all the time! Every indication anyone has ever seen anywhere is that the Brown team is completely sane, happy, and well-run.
I don't think they were replaced by better runners unless they were running really bad. They got 10th or 11th at regionals, a piss poor performance given the programs history. The Brown team, men and women, brought in about 50 recruits combined in the class that are now juniors and seniors. The women did not have a Junior or Senior athlete run at Regionals and the men had a Junior as their top runner but no one else in their top 5. These athletes, especially the women, were exceptional recruits and many scored for them as freshmen and sophomores. Lindsay Kahn, Jenna Ridgeway, Ariel Wright. Something is wrong.
Obviously, Craig Lake has the ability to recruit a hoard of athletes and run them until they are sick, injured or quit and then recruit another hoard of women and repeat the process. I cannot believe that an athletic department allows such terrible retention rates on a team.
Guess that's just a vent, I feel bad for the athletes that are in the program now and those that will be the future. Good luck on recruiting another 15 girls this year and having them all quit by their Senior year Lake
to be fair, doesn't the math work out for this years seniors be the last class NOT recruited by lake? wouldn't it make sense if she didn't have anyone that year.
do i have to keep repeating myself? i've said it once and i'll say it again...lake sucks....
I've heard that they all picked up stress fractures/various injuries from some messed up diet that the coach put them on. It was either vegetarian or preventing them from eating milk and cheese and other calcium rich products or maybe even Atkins diet based...
I think you are correct, she may not have recruited this years senior class. However, that doesn't change the fact that not one of them is currently running for them. I actually don't even think any of them are still on the roster. I can understand a certain attrition rate at an Ivy school, the kids are bright and have a lot of options. However, a 100 percent attrition rate, in my mind, is not acceptable.
Some may argue that these athletes didn't mesh with Lake's coaching style and didn't know it before committing to Brown. I would say that the Juniors recruited by Lake certainly knew her style before coming to Brown and still quit or are injured. If I remember correctly some absorbent amount of girls got stress fractures a year or two ago, along the lines of 8-10 I think.
Good luck Coach Lake in continuing to destroy the running careers of young men and women.

Obviously not an English major.
the best part is, she's still not the worst women's coach in the Ivy League!
please tell, who is? where does she rank?

Coach Lake is a great coach, and not this isn't HER posting.
She comes tries to come as a tough-coach and I can understand considering she is the head of both a man's and women's team in the ivy league. At 5 foot 2 or around there she does her best to be respected by her athletes. And considering she just replaced the past coach, she is doing pretty well. A lot of teams have bad transitions when a coach is replaced or leaves... just look at Wisconsin, for example.
In a few years, Lake will be back up to speed.
Dang, I thought this thread was going to be about Beyonce or something....
