What do the top master runners, run in the 400 meters in June?
I ran 56.5 as a 49 year old, and it put me 12th on the list 45-50 list on Masterstrack .com.

Boston masters track club ran ran 8:14 4x800 at tufts this weekend. Won the meet averaging 2:03 per leg. Not too shabby for old guys.
Was this Massvelocity guys?
Doing tempo runs for 800 meters is a waste of time. You need speed: max of 600 meters total, with lots of rest between runs. And you need anaerobic work:
1600 total work up to 2400 total then down to 1200 total. 200 to 400 rest until your heart rate comes down to 130.
An 800m runner accumulates lactate esp. if he's as slow as me, so threshold runs can be useful. But don't listen to me, listen to Jack Daniels.
