No talk?
Dan Steele-Oregon, Ken Harden-FSU, Mike Ford-Baylor and now O'Neil of Ole Miss all turning down the chance to work for the best track and field coach in the USA,Martin Smith.Does nobody want to be his sprint/hurdle/relay coach? Whats the Deal?

My take
Mark Napier -- cocky, but a damn good coach
Fischer -- No lie -- he IS one of the best young field event coaches
Boone -- NOT a token female. SHe can flat out coach. Time at South Caorlina and LSU -- if she learned anything, she'll do a good job.
Maybe some of the others who turned offers down were better, but this staff can flat out COACH.
will smith coach both male and female distance runners, then?
bump
where did Jill Lancaster go to?
Smith now will coach the sprinters/hurdlers and relays as he knew all of the answers at Oregon just ask Tony Veney (UCLA)! Smith will let R. Rothoff be the volunteer distance coach.

That is hilarious. Coach Smith will get the right person for the men's sprint/hurdle position. The man knows what he is doing.

LOL, Boone can coach? Obviously you haven't looked at her track record at all. She didn't do anything at LSU other than paperwork, some recruiting, putting out cones, and timing people. Dennis Shaver coached all the girl sprinters at LSU and Boo the jumpers. At Texas she only had about 8 athletes to coach the whole time she was there and none of them improved much, many got worse.

Yeah, I'm glad someone finally said it. Just b/c you spent time somewhere doesn't mean all that much. Does the name Ychlindria Spears ring a bell?
It will be a very interesting year at OU with Martini Smith at the helm?

Can you say William Lawson of Oregon as the choice!

if Smith had any since, he would keep Atkins and ditch Boone. She is pretty lame when it comes to coaching. Please name one athlete she is personally responsible for in coaching who has done well. Adrienne Crenshaw... What happenend there? Zenobia Reed, what's up? Latoya Phelps, who in my opinion, was the greatest athlete ih Texas High School History... what happened?
