I do, a friend of mine in Seattle died from Covid-19.
In the past two months I have witnessed one person sneeze but no one coughing. I agree it is not a regular flu. It is the Invisible Flu.

I am very sorry for your loss. Things are sometimes easy to dismiss unless it affects you personally. Your input is very valuable to me. I was only relaying my own personal experience.

Your 60 years plus and you’re reduced to goading a stranger online who lost a friend to the virus. Fairly pathetic really.
My friend Chris, died a long way from his home in Scotland, it’s a sad story actually.

Thank you. I understand, until it hits closer to home it doesn’t feel entirely real.

Everything isn't about you. I was just posting, it had nothing to do with you. Pathetic solipsistic assumption your part really.

keyword here is "single" since LRC posters are either not single (6 figures, model wife, 14min 5k) or sit in their basement (and thereby practicing social distancing all the time)

R U lying?
I have known several folks who have died of cancer. Kids, young adults, middle aged and old folks.
Don't know a single soul sick with Covid
Yes. But you obviously would not because you are sacrificing millions of lives of black children in order to save Granny. That is a deal with the devil. The average American has lost $20k in the market this year but the interruption in the food chan is expected to increase the death toll from starvation by tens of millions. A few thousand additional Americans would have died without a lockdown but it would have saved tens of millions of other lives. And the estimate is that if every American donated just $5k instead of the $20k that they lost, starvation could have been eliminated.
Other than myself, I don't know a single person IRL that is a Letsrun poster.
What !

It had a lot to do with them, you dense dolt. You are just too thick to realize it.

and all those were in the last 6-8 weeks? wow......
There have been frequent threads like this that imply the coronavirus is no big deal. If you had been king of the U.S. at the beginning of the year, what would have you done? Virtually every country in world has been taking the same steps as the U.S., but they're all overreacting?
Although that website generally has very good information, if you read their methodology they did not change the denominator when they calculated the survival rate for healthy individuals. Thus, they were dividing the number of deaths in healthy individuals (who comprised 11% of total deaths) by the total number of cases (healthy and with preexisting conditions). It could very well be that the mortality is the same in those with and without preexisting conditions, given the data presented on that website. For example, if healthy individuals comprise only 11% of cases (and given that both high cholesterol and high blood pressure, both EXTREMELY common are included in the list of preexisting conditions) then the mortality rate for healthy individuals would be the same as for those with preexisting conditions.
