Assuming he has very little formal training that is impressive.
I take it you haven't seen too many Middle School races, have you? This is pretty par for the course with them.
he is just a KID
Old dude wasn't much of a rabbit - too far out front, then on the final bend, he forces the kid wide.
When I was 12 I took my dad's stopwatch up to the high school track.
I clicked the start button and took off. Exactly 6 minutes later I had completed the 4 laps it took for a mile (before metric tracks). It was so painful, I vowed never to run a mile again so when I joined the jr high track team, I specialized in the 880. From there, I went straight to the 10k as my first race longer than a half mile when I was 14. I finally ran my first mile race as a freshman in high school. Like millions of other kids, I ended up with a 1,600 pr of 4:29 or close to a 4:30 mile!

When I was in grade 7 I ran 4:53. Is that age 12? I can't be bothered to Google it.
Also that year I ran 16;56 going out in a 4:59 mile, LOL!
The baseline letsrun poster
That kid in the video is awesome and I hope he has a great running life.
I won my 8th grade league championship in 5:04, going out in 61. I never ran that fast for an opening 400 of a mile ever again in my life. I often wonder what I could have done that day going out in 75 or even like 68.

. . . and if the OP thought it was worth the extra clicks to check out the youtube channel that this video was on, it appears from other videos that the kid may be autistic and is now a young adult.
This thread should probably be deleted.

I think 7th grade is 13 years... I was around 5:35 on an elite training schedule that consisted of man hunt and 10 minute runs per day that were usually cut short

His random bursts of speed were hilarious.
Holy crap :D
I watched it without reading this comment, and I was SO confused as to what he was doing. The pacer definitely helped him.
What on earth was happening there, though? Did he just keep on forgetting he was supposed to be running fast? Either way, it's hilarious, but a great accomplishment!
When he goes behind the trees a switch is made. Another kid runs out in same clothes and hairstyle.
So really runner 1 does 300m
Runner 2 does 400 m
Runner 1 does 400 m
Runner 2 does 400 m
Runner 1 finishes last 100 m
Kinda a complex scheme to get under 6:00 min mile.
Sad state of American running.
He is the White Boy Henry Rono. He will lay waste to the NCAA in 8 years.
I read the thread title and saw the opening of the video and something appeared off.
I checked the YouTube page of “Brian McSweeney”, and other videos of “Noah” seem to suggest that he may have a severe learning or visual disability.
Feel free to check them out and call me on my bullshit. But I figure the full picture of the kid (if true) deserves to be told so make the trolls feel like assholes.

The video was from 2013, so doubtful.
no, but I've seen some kids training and they don't stutter like that at all
