We aren't going to get the 1 million plus worse case (well unless it comes back with a vengance) but 100-150k after all the social distance we did is a heck of a lot more than a flu season. Now if SD reduced the deaths from 500k to 150k is something that will be really hard to prove. If Houston, Dallas, Washington, DC or another big city pulled a New York, our death toll would be absurd.
On the other hand, this stuff is lasting years more. We are talking a couple months and then some gradual reopening.

As the deaths are seeming focused on older people, you might be happy to say, all the oldies stay home, we'll get back to work. However it's now finding that younger people are having strokes and cardiac issues due to the virus. So w=once you are announced as in the cross hairs you'll change your tune.

Early indications are that it does not significantly mutate and therefore antibodies are more likely to work over a longer period.
