The answer to the OP is that Galen Rupp is the FASTEST 10,000m runner of the past 9 years or so at 26:44.
No.
YES. Fastest since 2011.
Perhaps you are confusing the 10k, a road event, with 10,000m.

Rupp overperformed that night. I thought he was going to place 8th. Then he finished the Olympics with that bronze.

It's hard to compare the finish, given the winning time was 25 seconds faster in Rio. I assume the weather/humidity also played a role, as the field as a whole finished far slower.

9900- 13
10000- 13
26.1 final 200
I think Rupp made the right move in focusing on the marathon, but we'll never know what may have happened had he focused on the 5/10 that year.
Let's not pretend the runners that beat Rupp were clean. They are bigger dopers than Rupp.

I was hoping youd post that.
Where is Solinky's AR record in the 10k now?
Surely, he can reclaim it from Rupp now, right?
Oh wait, he retired.
Rupp lacked the crazy L-Carnitine freshness of 2012-Winter 2013 when he was a beast in the last quarter, as well as the pre-marathon speed. He couldn't have just solo'd a 26:44 and expected to win because Farah, et al. would have just sat on him and crushed him the last two laps to faster times, and in any case, despite Ayana's insane EPO performance in the women's 10000m, the weather was unkind to a fast solo performance at that distance. If they can kick hard in a 26:48-50 race, then they can run faster than 26:44 in cool conditions.
Doesn't that 26:24 10km road record suggest to you that maybe those guys who crush Rhonex Kipruto on the track are also capable of just a tad better than 26:44?
I was rewatching the 2012 Olympic 10,000 and noticed K Bekele just didn’t have it.
