So if I run behind them I will get more spit in my face? Could this be worked into a tactic for races in the future,,, go right in front of them to slow them down with your coronavirus, see them run home, desperate to clean themselves
Don't think I've ever seen people run directly behind someone else like that for any period of time except in races. What's the possibility that you'd be out doing a training run and fall directly in step behind someone else running exactly the same pace?!!
Having said that, I thought this was pretty obvious - when I move out on to the road to stay clear of a jogger coming the other way and do wait of few seconds before cutting back in.
Actually this way you are sure to be protected from this weakened flu. You will get the virus, produce antibodies and be immuned ( most likely without even knowing you had the virus) case closed
Yet more joke "science" for the rags to pick up and demonise others for the coronavirus spread.
Nobody run in front of me.
Solved. Next.
The jogger in the front is most probably infected as he vomits each other second.
Gotta admire his dedication, though.
This? Seriously, my thought on reading this, after an old running club sent it to me (I still get their emails for some reason) ... my thought was isn't this exactly the level of virus exposure that engenders immunity? The notion of 'zero tolerance' on virus exposure is understandable, but it's wrongheaded, silly, and dangerous. The goal isn't 0 exposure until there's a vaccine. That's not practical. The goal is keeping exposure at a level which prevents proper medical treatment due to our finite (but growing) treatment resources.

Lol, classic
So much for Kipchoge and his pacer posse
Shyt hobbyjogger form. No kickback, probably heel striking, and no genitals. Typical.
For once can the fooking media stop with click-bait BS fear-mongering headlines?
'Horrifying' simulation? Whatever...
This is easily fixable. Don't run anywhere near anyone, ever. I see you, I move away. Far away. I don't want your CO2-enriched misama anywhere near my eyes/nose/mouth. I run in the opposite direction so I can see you approach me. When I spot you up ahead, I move to the other side of the road or trail. If it's a narrow trail, then I step aside and hold my breath.
This doesn’t effect me I’m always in 1st
I'm sorry, but this whole thing is absurd. First off, that article keeps talking about coughing or sneezing while running. Here's a question for you. When is the last time you actually coughed or sneezed WHILE running? Hardly ever happens unless you swallow a bug or something. And second, is there any proof that any single person in the world has caught this thing because of running? If we were somehow able to know exactly how every single case were transmitted, I bet that IF there were any cases transmitted while running, and that's a BIG IF, that you could probably count that number on one hand. Everyone getting paranoid about exercise is just getting ridiculous.

Good point, but in some areas exercising with someone is frowned upon, and you may even get arrested.
Future track meets will have all events run in lanes. The 5000m staggered start will have lane 8 running just over 11 laps while lane 1 will still run the usual 12.5
This had to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life. I've been running regularly for over 8 years, I've easily accumulated tens of thousands of miles and NEVER in my entire life have I bumped into someone running the same route as me at the exact same pace outside of races. What are the odds of that happening?!
That's just stupid wrote:

But... if a group is running together I could see how IF aerosolized breath was contagious that those running behind, or to the side or in the front, depending on the wind direction/wind speed/and pace, others in the group could be infected. The real issue here is CAN aerolsolized breath be a transmitter?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
