Nearly twice as many Americans are dying daily of Coronavirus as from the flu despite a much smaller patient population

Not sure what there is to discuss. Just like the experts have been predicting: COVID 19 is much deadlier than flu.

This just proves it. It’s a novel virus, it’s only been in the US for a couple of months. Insane the speed it is moving.

By their logic, if a plane crashes on Monday and kills a bunch of people and then another crashes on Tuesday and kills a bunch of people, suddenly plane crashes are a leading cause of death, more than cancer because for those 2 days crashes killed more people. They are about as dumb as you get.

There’s also a vaccine for the flu and yet it’s still killing all those people daily. Stop trying to spread fear.

You do realize there’s a vaccine for the flu and it’s still killing all those people right? And it’s killed 215 average every single day since Jan 1, right? Not just one day, but 85 straight days... with a vaccine out there also lowering the death count... but we don’t let that destroy our economy every year

If the current vaccine was entirely ineffective, with a new one at least a year away, and the number of flu deaths was rising exponentially and starting to overwhelm the medical system unless drastic measures were taken, HELL YES we would shut down the economy if that's what it took to survive. Good grief, do you even think before you write?

The flu vaccine is famously ineffective.

Also... on average, Americans are obsessed, sick, addicted to presentation drugs and have endless preconditions due to all three.

As a society we have made it socially acceptable to be fat and sick.

We are seeing the result of that.

If you don't get it yet you'll never get it. We have millions and millions of people staying at home. If we ignored the virus the daily death toll would be far worse. Doctors all over the world and here have expressed how bad this thing is and will get if we don't heed the warnings. With NO vaccine people are more at risk, period. I bet a decent number of people who die from the flu didnt get vaccinated.

The hospital system is not overwhelmed anywhere except in NY. With the exception of NY, no other state has more than a couple thousand cases. And with only a percentage of those requiring hospitalization, please explain how a state with more than a couple hospitals can’t handle a few hundred admissions.

That is the point. 50% of the population gets vaccinated but the rest of the population gets the flu and 50,000 die which makes the flu about as deadly as Covid 19. Why is the vaccine not mandatory? Why are all vaccines not mandatory? Parents can sign s form and still send children to school without vaccines.

Not only is it socially acceptable to be overweight and unhealthy, it is taboo to insult people for being unhealthy. Yet we will have more deaths from heart disease and cancer than from Covid 19.

Not to worry. 3.28 million filed for unemployment last week and are now available to work in all the new hospitals.

Even if covid-19 is worse than the flu, it's not some outrageous virus that is way way worse. It's in the same range as the flu, just a little bit more.

We do not ever do any crazy changes to normal life for the flu. So why are we turning the world upside down for this? I could see limiting crowd sizes or some of the initial things we did, but completely shutting things down is ridiculous.

You don't care if someone transmits the virus to your elderly relatives? You know that is much more likely to happen if the country goes about business as usual, don't you?

Prepare for people to villianize you for pointing out the obvious.

It is also socially UNacceptable for the media or others to point out that the average person dying from Covid19 have 3 other major diseases and are averaging 84 years old. This is similar to someone in a car wreck put on a respirator, gets the flu while in a coma, and their death being statistically attributed to the flu. Obviously as a society we should not be seeking death to anyone or treating this as normal or okay, but the catastrophic consequences are attacking the already very vulnerable.
