I would be an asset on the outbreak prevention taskforce.

Next for me is Asefa Mengstu, seventh in Tokyo this year after an impressive 2019: third in Dubai behind Molla and Negasa, second in Paris and third in Chicago. You could make a case for ranking him two or three higher.
So, Bashir Abdi and who else to finish my 20?
Winner of Abu Dhabi, Reuben Kiprop Kipyego In 2.04.40.

I wrote to Copenhagen to see how the planning is going.
i am guessing the planning for our NRL [professional footy code] restart here on May 28 could be helpful for them.

Seventeenth woman is Gelete Burka, won Paris and third Chicago last year.
I am in a bit of a quandary next. Tough to line up the results of Girma, Azimeraw, and Jemeli and make some definitive calls.
Calling it a three way tie for 18th and choosing the 21st next.

That lady is Helalia Johannes, third at the worlds then could not finish Nagoya this year as the defending champ.

Below is what i wrote in my Nagoya thread:
Last year’s winner, the Namibian, should win again; but it will be a great three way contest. Helalia Johannes is 29yo and ranked 20. Ran her PB here: 2.22.25. Was third in the oppressive conditions at the worlds.
Oops, Johannes is 39yo.
Next man is Kaan Kigen Obzilen, second last year at Rotterdam in 2.05.27 then second in Valencia in 2.04.16.
22nd woman is Gutemi Shone who was second in Dubai this year in 2.20.11. Had a good result back in 2015 in Houston: second in 2.23.32. Was in a pack of seven at halfway that day in 1.12.44. Her fastest 5k split that day was 16.41 between 30 and 35k.
Vincent Toroitich (Kipchumba) had some experts at year end putting him in their top ten. Official rankings have him at 5. He won two marathons last year after five years without one time sub 2.10. Won Vienna in 2.06.56 then Amsterdam in 2.05.09. Comfortable with him at 23 here.
Next lady in my list is a favourite of mine, Selly Chepyego. Last year was fifth in Paris and third in Berlin. This year: fourth in Tokyo.

Another who had their fans pushing their barrow was Titus Ekiru. Could not finish at the elite event in Tokyo after winning Milan and Honolulu last year.
Then at 24, Edna Kiplagat, now 40yo, down 4 places from year end. Second in Boston then fourth in the humidity at worlds. 2011-14 were great years for Edna, ruled the world. Rankings of 2,6, 3, and 5 by Track and Field News in those years.
Guye Adola next, third in Valencia in 2.04.42 to finally add to his second in Berlin 2017 in 2.03.46. The second time confirms he was no ‘one trick pony’ with the first. Plenty of other attempts in between: hopefully it won’t be another two year wait.

Azmera Gebru with a second in Paris and third in Amsterdam in 2.20.48 last year followed by a quick sixth in Tokyo this year(sub 2.23), rounds out the top 25.
I have five guys I rate between 26 and 30, but have no idea what order to put them in. How do you line these up: Deksisa, Kipkemoi, Osaka, Negasa, and Rupp? Their official rankings are from 11 all the way to 92. Two of them won hard-fought battles to make the Olympics next year, one made a major podium last year, another dipped under 2.04 in Dubai, and the remaining one has run just under and just over 2.05 in Amsterdam the last two years.
26 among the women is Workenesh Edesa, third in Dubai and sixth in Valencia to finish. Lanzhou in the middle was a win v quality opposition. Course or weather there must have been brutal.
Next lady is Zeinaba Yimer, fifth in the ridiculously deep Valencia event on debut in 2.19.28. Just two seconds off the fastest debutant of 2019. Below is my profile going into that ground-breaking day:

Choice for fifth women is a battle: purity, azmera abreha, or tadelech bekele.
Do you yimer on debut goes between 2.22 and 2.24 like these girls?
Next woman should be Zeineba Yimer on debut, 21 yo and ranked 12. Yimer was third at RAK in feb in 65.46 and won the 15k Nocturna in a CR 46.52.
Gov Pritzker's reopening Illinois plan announced today almost assures us that the Chicago marathon will not happen this year. He released a 5 phase plan, where gatherings of more than 50 people will not be allowed until phase 5.
For the state/Chicago region to enter phase 5, there must be one of three things: 1) a vaccine, 2) an effective treatment, or 3) no new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois/Chicago for a "substantial" amount of time. Many think that "substantial" amount of time means at least two weeks. It's extremely unlikely that any of those things will happen in time for the Chicago marathon to go forward.
