Do you really think this was an all-out effort 8 weeks before London? He left something in the tank and probably doesn't want Kipchoge to know his true fitness level.
You should watch the race and see how hard Bekele was breathing, you can hear it on the video. This was a very hard effort for him.
Totally agree. Definitely has some lb’s yet to lose.

still some time to go before the marathon. Also wasn't it a very windy headwind in the race? still quite a solid time considering it's in his build and done mostly by himself
No one likes you on here for a reason. One of which is because you lack basic competence. You judge road races like they are track races. You fail to understand there are many variables in judging road races.

Okay, I'll bite. How is this a good race? Because he beat a 39-year-old Englishman by less than a minute?
this is a fantastic observation.
if you do 22 miles long run in the hills at altitude, that is plenty.

Interesting, I was thinking the opposite. Around 53:40 You start to be able to hear his breathing really well, and it's crazy to me how he really only breathes out every 3 strides or so. I breathe out every time my right foot hits the ground (or more often) if I'm working hard.

Dude ignore that guy.
No, it's a good race for the slow course and a headwind. Again, this was a course record by over a minute.
I ran it (with a pack of dudes who all finished 68-70) and was shocked to read KB ran as fast as he did, based solely on how windy it was. The only technical part of the course was in the first half and just a couple rollers after mile 7. I've seen and experienced conditions at a lot of pro races in my years in person (as many of us have) - Olympics, marathons, roads, Diamond league, but KBs effort based on the course, conditions, lack of deep competition seemed to signal a potential step in fitness that many of us are craving: the old KB who's dipped into his talent bucket one more time and coupled it with a healthy chip on his shoulder ahead of and epic London showdown. 8 weeks to tighten up...going to be fun to watch.
Anybody find it interesting that Bekele would take fluid during a half? I thought they wouldn’t need to take fluids for a half. Maybe he’s practicing for London?

Kamworor took fluids during his half marathon world record race.

I wouldn't say this was an exciting race but definitely some positives about it
- Solid time considering the apparent headwind and not much competition
- Bekele was obviously not going for a time and looks to be in good shape at this point of the build before London Marathon
- i heard nothing about Bekele and injuries for once...which means he could be on track for an actual proper build to London marathon.
Whilst it might have been a bit breezy, it was actually more tail than head given the west to east over all direction of the course and a west to east wind. The main bit into wind is in the first half where you have more guys to shelter and share the load. Given the storms that have been hitting here lately it was pretty good conditions except no one knew about storm Kenny hitting
Your joking right? There is no way Kipchoge views 60:22 into a headwind in a legit race as slower than marathon pace. Read the post below.
Wait a minute. The guy who says he ran it is posting in the US. So why were you in the UK for a half marathon?
here is a question rojo....
if your going to call out some rando from his IP address, why cant you do all of us a favor?
- see if el k is really posting from kenya
- see where coevett is posting from, and then see if its the same address that pretended to be me and get my handles banned....like thats super annoying. i mean your the owner of this site and you dont try one bit to see whats up on that. nope someone uses my handle and you go and ban me without checking the IP address...pretty simple...i mean you were able to see that some US guy is claiming he was in the UK for the half...nice detective work gil grissom! lolz
But it was really windy in London, Bekele stated it himself.
https://www.runnersworld.com/uk/news/a31182627/bekele-course-record-vitality-big-half/I can't wait until he returns to London again to destroy the field twice in the space of 8 weeks. I know he can win London in April. This will get Boris Johnson's attention. Both of the 2 of them will meet after the race. I wouldn't be surprised if Bekele was knighted after the race when he gets a WR. He could replace Mo as Sir Bekele. Boris will be inviting over for coffee in Buckingham palace and they will chuckle over Brexit as they sip their cups.

Bekele, the King of London. I like the idea. :)
Why is everyone pretending London marathon is going to go ahead.

if Tokyo can go ahead for Elites, I'm sure London will.
