Happens at every marathon in the country, when elite dude in flats beats hobby jogger running 4 hours in VF. It's a shoe. Once I ran a 5K and someone ran it barefoot. He beat a few guys in VF's. Again, it's a shoe.

Another guy, Dickson Chumba. Ran 2:04:32 in 2014 at age 27, hasn't run faster since. His best after vaporfly release was 2:05:30 in 2018, last year he only ran 2:08:44.
You were asking about some 2:09 guys. Literally the first one I look at that ran 2:09 before the vaporfly and now wears vaporfly is Edwin Koech who ran 2:09:04 in 2014, and 2:08:17 in 2015... Since starting to wear vaporfly he hasn't run a PR. He ran 2:09:44 in 2018 and 2:09:20 in 2019.

He didn't run a 2:04. He bounced. This is the crux of the problem -- these aren't running shoes and this athlete did not run a race.
There were A LOT of really big PBs in this race, like many guys running near enough back to back half PBs is it possible the course was short?!

Well, as long as we are coming clean, lets be honest and say that it really isn't just the shoes, you just don't like the guy, which is fine. That is your right. I would encourage you to man up and just say it, rather than picking at everything associated with him. Your insistence that it has to do with the shoe's performance, and their availability is just too thinly veiled.

Anyways, and consider the Olympic marathon is a significantly weaker field than any of the top 6 marathons during the year. So, it shouldn't be surprising Rupp can pull a bronze at the Olympics while not even being invited to the top 6 marathons in the world.
Here is the deal. The shoe factor is probably worth 1:15-2:30 over the full marathon. Unlike in the past when random dudes would run 2:06-07 and we'd think that was wild, its 2:04:45-2:05:59 performances. A bunch of random Americans ran 2:10-2:12 in Chicago, if you put that to 2:12-2:14 it wouldn't be a big deal. As long as we as observers just reassess times none of this is big. A guy running 3 minutes off the World Record hasn't been that huge a deal in most eras. It's more than a 1000m behind.

I don't think you appreciate the asymmetrical nature of PR-setting.
Every year at the Dubai marathon 3-4 Ethiopians show up and drop 4-5 min PRs, going from 2:09 to 2:04-5. And this has been happening long before vaporflys came out.

Did you guys even watch the Rio Olympics? Looks like Kipchoge was toying with the field. If he really wanted to, looks like he could of dusted the field and ran in the 2:06 range.

I see where you are coming from actually.
Out of curiosity do you wear Vaporflys?? What were your times over marathon before and after??
Drug cheats can now bring the cheaterflys argument to make their sudden improvement less obvious. Let's see if he can run that fast again now that is in the wada radar.
