what happened to your boy meb in the 10km? how about abdi?

Abdi is not fast enough (closing speed) to ever do anything on the track and not willing to train hard enough to be a marathoner. Meb (in his RW article) feels like he doesn't receive RESPECT. I am not so sure that he garnered any today.
These two fake africans crack me up. Meb says that he is unappreciated. It looks like NY has appreciated him very well. He has received better contracts at both NY and Chicago because he is a US citizen. No one likes a whiner.
Hes right he dosent. Everyone knows if Meb was white and born here we would have heard about his silver in the marathon forever..
But its the racists "He wasnt born here" pricks that think hes not worthy of being called american. He will never get the respect he deserves due to peoples ignorance towards him. Who unless there american indian have no room to talk themselves.
Theres a big difference in getting paid and bieng respected.
He carries a foreign flag at the US trials. He was the only athlete to do this. I respect his right to do this but he should respect my right to respect him a little less for doing so. If you don't want to be treated differently, then don't behave differently. I am not saying it is right or wrong, but it is certainly different.
Gotta admit I agree with the flag issue. Perhaps he should have carried them both?
He did carry them both on several occasions.
You can't have your cake and eat it too!!!
As stated above he has carried both on many occasions.

I guess if they're "fake Africans," they must be real Americans?

You silly, knee-jerk ass. It's not "racists" to state the fact that Meb was born in Africa. By that standard, referring to Native Americans as "american indians" is also a "racists" remark.
Personally I'd rather be paid than respected. Luckily this is exactly what has happened.
Well your not getting paid or respected so it all works out.

Stop it. He's still got Zurich coming up!! :)
Great point.
I also think that he could still be treated like a man from Eritia if he chooses to go back. Oh thats right, it is a shitty war torn country that he fled from. HE IS DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF US. I happen to believe that he is better for going through what he has, but he is different. I actually find it funny that no matter what he runs he will always be treated differently.
While we are on the subject, I hate italian americans and their little italy's...I hate pasta!

Pasta is a Chinese invention, idiot.
Then Ching Ching Chong to you too Marc Polo! I hate chinese and Italians who wave their flags in their little cities. Go watch some god father and pretend to be mafia like everyone here pretends to be a runner!
Think for a second. Meb has a DNF next to his name at worlds. Whatever cuased him to drop out must have been bad. I think thats what the thread was started; concern for an AMERICAN ATHLETE. If any other American posted a DNF there would be posts of concern or some report about the race. Instead there arent any posts about what the thread was established for. It is stuff like this that Meb commented about in RW. This is why he doesn't feel accepted. So I'll ask what happend to him?
If I am not mistaken, I believe that this is the first DNF that Meb has ever had in his entire running career.
Those athletes that chose to comeback from the Olympics and run another marathon have not fared well. Deena DNF at NY and then was hurt again during track season. Browne was forced to surgery. Meb has had a rough last 6 months.
Meb has not made any excuses about it, but he has been battling achilles and calf injuries that have hindered his training for the last several months. I suspect he aggravated the injury and decided to pack it in.
