Chelimo easily wins the 3000m with a 7:50.37, Seufer from Va Tech (7:53.72) and Sam Atkin (7:59.87) were the only others under 8:00.
Geez that 800 was slow. Muphy 1:47? Engels 1:49? What happened?

Yikes. I thought the same thing. Murphy at least ran pretty even (27.09, 26.27, 27.13, 27.11) and won, but Engels had a disastrous race (26.88, 26.44, 27.33, 28.40) in taking 3rd.
Rogers handily beat Mu 2:03.15 - 2:04.08 with Butterworth claiming second in between them at 2:03.25. Harris with the win in the women's mile; 4:33 well clear of the field.

Slow? You do realize it's a flat track, right? The flat track WR is 1:45.92.

Let me talk to my guy and see if he can hook me up!
My bad, Murphy's 1:47 flat converts to banked 1:46, Engels 1:49 converts to 1:47

Right. Isn't it Murphy's WR from just last year? A year that culminated in an 8th place finish at Worlds? Seems like being 1.5 seconds behind that not bode well.

Murphy clearly eased up at the end. He came back to finish 3rd in the mile behind Fink and Ches so a pretty good day for him. Engels did not look that good.

Good to know. Thanks for the input. Hoping he can bounce back and we can have 3 legit medal contenders in the men's 800m this summer.
Chelimo ran a bit nuts. He was lucky VT guy didn’t catch him. Chelimo went out at 2:02 for the half and hit 4:08 at the mile. He was flying. With 4 laps left, you saw him struggling and take a look back. VT guy was back 7 seconds at the mile. Made up 4 seconds on Chelimo in the last mile. The entire crowd was actually getting a bit shocked at the fact Chelimo looked to be slowing.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
