Lol, this website might explode if that happened, it's not going to but still...

Walmsley should be the benchmark given that he's run the fastest HM of all the qualifiers.
Is he training in Arizona? This choice would make a little more sense. If he's fit he's going to run really fast if that's his plan. 350 ft. drop. He should break 1:00:00 unless he's just going for marathon effort or is doing something like 10 @ MP then 3 progressive. This race hasn't been known for attracting elite runners.
I'm intrigued to see him race but it's hard to get too excited about him these days.
Well, that's cool. Decided to run the half this year instead of the full due to Boston. Will be cool to line up near him!

I'm hearing rumors of a tune-up half in AZ for Galen Rupp, can anyone confirm?
This would be a shock. It's a local/regional race, but not nationally competitive. I do this race every year. It's very competitive for the local hobby joggers(I couldn't crack top 50 last year with a 1:17), but he could jog his way to the win. Weather is always perfect and its pancake flat with a small downhill the last mile. Very few turns. I don't think it would even be hard for him to run under an hour honestly.
How is this confirmed? His name isn't showing up on the tracker.
If so, and if he races it properly, hes gonna run a very fast time. This is a fast course and the weather this week is perfect.
The course has about 150 feet downhill, very evenly spread out (except for more in the last mile). It has previously been eligible for OTQ for the half since it is below the drop/meter guidelines.
It does not have 350 feet of downhill as someone mentioned earlier. It is very fast though in dry, mild weather and just a consistent 10 feet of downhill per mile.
I will never not be excited about Galen racing, and frankly I don't understand why you wouldn't be. He is the greatest distance runner in US history, and is our sole threat at the world level.
It was confirmed via Ken Goe and linked to on the homepage ya dingus
What other elites are in the race? My prediction time wise is that he'll tempo the race based on his marathon PR. So anything just north or south of 1:03 would be a good effort without needing a lot of recovery from it. He'll still have a good week of training left following the race before he begins his taper so I'm sure we won't see a 60-61 minute time from him.

Is this one of the marathons that Frank Mesa cheated at?
It was Meza at Mesa but yes.
I initially misread the name of the race as "Meza half marathon" and was wondering if it was some sort of novelty event where everyone stashes a bike somewhere along the course and cycles a portion of the race.
This website will explode if Jim drives to Mesa and drops a run on his Strava.
Running an aides course with no competition. What does that tell us?
He should go run the Miami Half but he would get dusted by a group of 61 minute Kenyan guys that are showing up there.
Jim should run TO Mesa, then run the half.
Will Rupp wear the new Nike monstrosities, or something that would also be legal for the Olympics?
Okay, I'll ask.
What is the point of this?
It's a downhill half marathon.
It's "barely" a long run.
If he runs well, it means nothing. If he doesn't run well, it created doubt in his mind 3 weeks before the trials.
Am I missing something? Maybe this is why I'm not elite!
I guess an extended speedwork session?
Just a confidence booster. He will do marathon pace. Been awhile since he has raced.
Guess I’ll have to run over and watch the race on Saturday now.
Why not go to New Orleans? or dodging BTC group?

Sounds cool.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
