decades ago i used to sometimes run my warm day shakedown lap after arriving at track meets in adidas soccer sandals. i quit field events after junior high -- though i lusted after javelin in college -- so like i have a few hours to kill and the quality of the shakedown was more to get the lead out after the bus/van ride, then go set up camp to wait for running events.
you then get out the runners/spikes when it's game time. fresh off the bus isn't game time. in college soccer i had separate game day cleats, pumas i found that were an unusually light version of kings. i am not putting mileage on those in practice and i want the switch to flip when i am preparing to hit the line, now it's business. until then it's chill.
