First and foremost, no disrespect to Kobe Bryant. But from what l understand 9 people lost their lives? Killed in the crash where; two young girls, a wife, and a well know baseball coach, and a few others we don't know anything about. Let's remember all of them.

A lot of us watched Kobe on TV winning multiple championships. He touched a lot of people through his work ethic & his mastery of basketball. That's why he's getting more attention. No disrespect to the other sinvolved in the crash, I'm just explaining why Kobe is getting attention.

they will be mentioned in a small obit in the paper like every other normal person gets. people who know them will know about it and mourn, like any normal person.
Kobe is talked about because everybody knows who he is and wants to keep up on the news about a person they have been keeping up with for 23 years.
Kobe who? Kobe Wagyu beef?
Were any of them the defendant in a high profile rape case? Did they pay millions in a lawsuit settlement to the victim?

That's just how society is, mate. When I was at the gym, CNN was reporting Kobe was among 5 dead. No mention about the others.

Or you can look at it like:
150,000 people die each day but it’s rare that any one person knows one person who dies in any given day or week.
You can’t talk about all 150,000 every day.
But when one person dies that is known and recognized by millions of people, then millions of people have a common person to mourn.
With all of the deaths, it’s hard to react to someone you don’t know or haven’t heard of.
Why talk about the other 8 and not the others of the 150,000?
The same reason the media isn’t talking about the thousands of other people that died today, why they won’t talk about your death either. They didn’t influence the world.

People act like Kobe Bryant's death is sad. Kobe Bryant woke up this morning with a net worth greater than $600 million dollars. His wife does not have to move back in with her mother with her two surviving kids. When I was in college, I was a limousine driver for a funeral home. I saw sad stories. Women begging funeral director to provide a funeral even though the widow was broke. I have seen deceased husband who worked hard but had no life insurance and family ruined upon the providers' death. Kobe Bryant's death is simply the circle of life. None of us are promised 80 years of good health. Look at O.J. Simpson, Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Roman Polanski & Woody Allen. They are looking at the death of Kobe and thinking they should have gone out on top. Do you believe Kobe "allegedly" only raped one woman? Most rapists are serial rapists. It was a matter of time before he was like the other men mentioned. Kobe went out on top. It doesn't get better than that.
This is largely about you thinking Kobe was a horrible person. Keep in mind that everyone who died with him thought he was OK.

Today two US military helicopter pilots died in Afghanistan,but you won't hear much about them because they just served the country, but they didn't break any NBA records . Again let's show some love for all those people. I realize he was a great player, but at least don't totally ignore the 7 other people besides his daughter, as if their lives aren't worth the same as his.l know you would be upset if that was your daughter,or son, or sister, or brother, or something like that was on the helicopter too, and nothing much was said about them. All lives are inportant! I am not disrespecting Mr Bryant, but l am just saying let's show some respect for all 9 people at least.
