Fantastic post.
That clown is just another LRC buffoon.

It’s not “calculated.” He’s one of the only professional distance runners actually sharing his training with the world. Of course fans engage with that information.
Ban imminent, I hope !

The bigger issue for many LRC "idiots" like myself is that 2:07-2:08 is not good enough to compete against the best in the world. Not even close.
He won’t have to for the trials. No one in the US other than Rupp can compete with the best in the world.
That was Rupp under Alberto and the magic potions. I expect the new Rupp to be somewhat less successful.

Yuki runs half-marathons and marathons on a weekly basis at a faster pace.
How 'bout that?

I think we rather have Jim Walmsley win the Olympics in 1:59 flat.
Roughly 57 feet of elevation gain per mile. Not that much gain but still impressive

He did this at 7000' with hills. And a 50k converts to a significantly faster marathon, not to mention half marathon.

Also based on his training, he's looking fitter than Scott Fauble, who is a realistic contender for a top 3 spot at the trials.

And that’s where the problem lies with Walmsley. Too insecure about normal training getting the job done so he obliterates his competitors’ mileage because he feels like that’s how he will beat them. He will have blown his load before the trials. Scared of head to head competition when the moment comes.
I don't think he's trying to get into the olympics. He just wants to run in the trials for the novelty of it. He's an ultra guy and will be racing Comrades this year.
Makes me wonder how Kipchoge etc. manage to run faster than guys like this.

Exactly. Jim is a little insecure and his fan base is totally deluded.
King
I'm not a fanboy at all but I am entertained by his ridiculous Strava entries
This is an impressive workout, there is no debate there.
Lets debate this- how is he recovering so well? Consistent weeks with insanely high mileage, big big long runs, hard speed workouts, how does he do it? Is he a genetic freak or is he using something more to aid his recovery?
Do ultra races test? Do rock and roll half marathons test?

LOL. They can't even figure out how to get the course correct, of course they aren't testing. Too busy designing the finisher medal to give a hoot about actually putting on a decent event.
I would LOVE to see you to try and complete something like this, because after all, in your words it is "not even impressive"
Watch out, there's someone on this board insisting that 2:12 is out of the Q window, and that we'll have 65 or so coming home by 2:16.
Personally, I can see Walmsley as a 2:10 guy easily, and 2:10 might just win this one.
