No. Really. Why not? Boring course. But other than that, why not chase a fast time? Is it because they have zero chance of prize money?

Hot weather, no appearance money, no prize money, terrible location, terrible time of year, shall I go on?
Can't think of one positive reason to run it.
They would be left in the dust and embarrassed when they ran 210 or 226. Less embarrassing to run those times and be in the top 5.

I’m sorta there with you... but I suck and I still love being in races with fast people and getting a$$ kicked. I’ll never get better if I don’t race the best. Look at Yuki. He ran the WC with a slim chance of even placing in top 10. I actually thought he’d DNF.

The best don't race Dubai.
I've said before and again.
If I was still 26 and rolling, I'd be wearing Cheaterflys and crowdsourcing plane tickets to all these fast courses. I absolutely do not understand the mentality of the current US marathoning crowd.
These shoes and courses are a freeking gimmee to fast times. But I guess you'd all rather win your local Turkey Trot. Oh, wait, you don't race. I forgot that!
If women are caught driving a car , they are stoned to death by the savage aribs . Not really a tourist destination.
Because they can stay on home soil, get more attention, save travel money, and have a shot at top 10.
Yes Dubai, London, and Berlin are much faster courses and more competitive. However, until Americans can start breaking 2:08 regularly there ain’t no point.
Because they're too busy manufacturing surplus apostrophes?

Do you know anything about Dubai?

Elite American's what?
marathon trials are in one month

Which fast American would you suggest run it? The Olympic trials are a month away.
They don’t stand a chance getting the prize money. Fast times? Maybe. But the climate is much different than the US over there and they might not be prepared. They would definitely lose money on travel expenses alone.

Moran. The UAE is like the United Nations. Dubai is a city sovereign nation (Emirate). But homosexuality is banned there ... and that seems to the right you are so worried about.

When you were 26 you were a loser. Same as now.

Seems to me if folks would try we might have more surprises . We see it fairly often in other distances where a "lesser known" athlete just goes for it and puts up a performance no one expected. I just don't think there is a very lucrative career (or very long) to run 2:13 and place 9th in Boston.
Just what if one of those 211 guys went to Dubai and got dragged to a 2:07:40 or something like that.
I just wish to echo some of the same sentiments mentioned. First, even Rupp himself would maybe not get travel and hotel, etc. paid for. Hall in his prime maybe, but that's a big maybe. (Difference is how much the world has improved in the meantime even though the 2 guys are similar in PR. There are just so many 2:04 guys now.) So, Boston will pay you even if you choke and you're out of your own pocket for Dubai. They are cheap and greedy - and I don't fault them for that!
Also, has there ever been an American who would be competitive there? The best ever could have made it into to the top 10 this year on the best day of their careers. There are recent years, though in which the best times ever run by an American would not be anywhere near the lead pack late in the race. Is Rupp really willing to race knowing he's certain to not make it onto the podium? Look at one of the years when a whole peloton of guys went through the finish minutes faster than he has a chance of running. Top 10 would be a lucky break. Not a chance he does something like that.
Most of our top guys are scared to race and when they do it’s the silly Boston/NY double. Girls are slightly better.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
