I thought this is how all wrestling matches went. At least nobody got out a folding chair.
The basic rule in high school freestyle wrestling (at least in the state where I wrested) was that if you lift your opponent off the mat, it's your responsibility to return them to the mat safely. That's true no matter how they are lifted off the mat, and is a pretty basic rule.
He won't do any time. He'll plead out to something like parole, community service, and send the other kid an apology basket of fruit.
ifn' he gets jail time, a handsome Dad like that may have to do some wrasslin in the shower .

The majority of the coaches, wrestlers, and many referees in North Carolina don't have a clue about the rules of the sport.
From my experiences most athletes (parents) and coaches don't know the rules of their sports.
If I were a high school AD, I would require all my coaches to get certified as an official in their sport so they can learn their rules.
I'll foot the bill.
I served bravely and yet Rojo spends his days posting about high school boys
Former high school wrestler here. It's on the kid who got slammed. He put himself in a dangerous position.
and now we see the video of a parent that shouldnt have pushed his kid into a sport he cant handle.
As a libertarian, I really don't understand what the big deal is. This Patriot was simply exercising his right to freedom of movement and his right to defend his family and his property.
hmmm, well wrote:

Dad should do time for that.
Guy called into a radio show today and said the same thing. The kid was already back in position to resume the wrestling match.

Plus the gym didn’t have any signs stating spectator behavior expectations, like positive cheering only, no harassing officials/referees, no charging the competition mat to tackle a wrestler, etc.... thus, he shouldn’t receive any consequences. The school should be held liable for not having signs posted.
I served my country bravely. And Rojo? He spends his days on the internet writing posts about black people and underage boys

This is the correct answer. Parents and kids can't be expected to know expectations if there isn't proper notice of correct expectations. Zero signage addressing proper sportsmanship and crowd conduct is a bad move on the part of the school, tournament and state association. All should be sued by the father.
Please tell me you are being sarcastic? Assault (by the parent) is assault, and even if the throw was dangerous, 2 wrongs don't make a right. It makes 2 wrongs.

Yes, this is ALWAYS true based my on my distant recollection from high school wrestling. If you think about it, it has to be this way. Tough call on what the dad did; it's tough to see that happen to your kid. My daughter was playing shortstop in a softball game against a notoriously dirty team and was hit by a kid running to third at full speed w/ a helmet on. She was knocked out cold and had a long recovery from the concussion. I wasn't in attendance and learned from a coach that it was just a "wrong place, wrong time" incident but I was so upset that had I been there I could see myself rushing the field. The opposing player did apologize afterwards.
Yeah as a parent I can see feeling angry and protective. But the kids were both back up, looked okay. Clear assault by Dad. If Dad thought the other wrestler attacked his son by not following rules of the sport and slamming him, then take it up with the school, the police, lawyer. The dad was running across the mat, could see that the kids were up and okay. At that point, what was in his head? What does this guy do if traffic if someone cuts him off?
...and sorry about your daughter. What the F, that's crazy.
...but that HAD to be sarcasm, to write that you need a sign posted to tell you to not run onto the mat and tackle kids.
