Maybe so, it has been a while since we seen some sub 27 times.
Rupp 26:44 Solinsky 26:59
Sort of have to be 26:40 shape or better these days to run in the big leagues it seems. Wanders is fast, but has a way to go. Maybe better in the half, if he can run 58:30 or better. He is young and might continue to improve over the next 6-8 years.
Only thing is that there is no way Solinsky was ever going to run 27:13 on the roads. Maybe 27:30. Rupp may have done low 27, but we'll never know. They were very good on a bouncy track with perfect pacing and rafting most of the way.
58:30? That would make him one of the all time greats and the only challenger to Kamworor in the half. You sure? That time is probably equivalent to a 26:40...on the roads!!
You're saying 26:40 shape for the big leagues?? Who is running 26:40 besides two guys?? This a league of two guys?? However, those same two guys may not even be able to run under 59 for the half.

U.S. is a nation of 100m to 800m athletes plus hurdlers, jumpers and throwers.

It's a 4 second improvement and he's still young. He'll break 27 on the track before he's done.
easy on a short course like valencia

This course can't be legit
sure. everything outside the US is not legit, too short, downhill, whatever.
they are all too stupid to measure 10k. it's a mistery why the IAAF accepts reocords that have been run outside the US.
btw, wanders has ALWAYS been faster on the road.

not true. yes it's listed like that in wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10K_run#Area_recordsBUT if you check
https://www.worldathletics.org/records/all-time-toplists/road-running/10-kilometres/outdoor/men/senior?regionType=area®ion=north%20and%20central%20america&drop=regular&fiftyPercentRule=regular&page=1&bestResultsOnly=true&firstDay=1900-01-01&lastDay=2020-01-14it's NOT there, UNLESS you also display the "irregular" results. so this was clearly either too short or downhill.
he had a good track time though. but honestly, i don't trust any pro athlet in the eighties/nineties, they doped most likely worse than today's.

That 27:22 was run in New Orleans, so not much chance of it having been downhill. I think the time gets an asterisk because the course was point to point.
Nenow's time, and the times of the people right behind him, were not unusually fast for that race; there have been a lot of 27:xx times run there.
And as for the idea that he was on the juice -- I'd think that unlikely.
Sort of wonder what the top 10 list for the half will be in a about 3 years with the ways things are going. 58:30 could be 10th and can't rule out a 57:30. I think 58:30 would be about 5th now on the list.
When Wanders broke the half Euro record he was interviewed and didn't seem to care much, he was saying he wanted to win, be the best and go after the world record. Sorry, but he willl never get the world record and even if he runs 26:40 on track which is excellent speed, may never get much faster than 58:20-30 for the half, but good luck to him. He is certainly a world class elite runner, but he will have trouble making in the all time top 10 list.
Not clear whether it matters if Nenow's road 10k was legit, as he ran 27:20 on the track.

Big congrats to Wanders on his outstanding run and attaining a new European record of 27:13.
He's been improving well all the time and this really puts him in the big leagues now. This run makes him tied for the 19th fastest man ever for the distance. Only non-East African in top 25 all time.
Congratulations.
The list in about 3 years could be exactly like it is now. Took a decade to run faster than Tadese's WR. Especially with more busts coming. 57:30? No. No one is running 26 flat either.
58:30 is #3 of all time. Kiptum's time does not count.

No EPO in the '80s. There was blood doping, but there is no evidence that any U.S. runners ever did that (although it seems like something that Al "Vampire" Salazar would jump at).

Some of his workouts were posted and one day he had two insane workouts in morning amd at night. only chamce of recov3ry is EPO so its obvious Wamders is not just trai ing in kenya bit doping there. Kipruto obviously doping too. Fraud Euro agents such as Canova Rosa encourage it too and take athletes money they win from doping.

To be fair, Wanders wasn't doing well at any of the track races he ran in in 2019.
Wanders seems much less of a massively doped runner than many that I see popping out of nowhere and running WRs or suddenly improving at age 36.
He was a solid junior and I believe he ran a 13:48 at age 18, so basically one of the fastest times a US high schooler would have ever ran. This is before he started training in Kenya. He's just steadily progressed leading to now, where he's world class.

That’s what happens when you live and train like the East Africans. Dude is clearly all in. Americans take note.
Take note of what? How to suck in championships?

Blah, blah, blah...
You can keep talking but Wanders will continue ta train, race and win. He's clean.
