Holy hell...Jim Walmsley might actually have a shot at making some noise in the Trials. His training the last month is absolutely insane. On track for his 5th week in a row over 150 miles. Did two crazy workouts today...4x2 mile @ 9:45 this morning, 10x500 in 1:27 in the afternoon. 27 miles total on the day. That type of day is not something that I can imagine many pros trying.
the mileage isn't in the range of the top guys - which is like 130 miles a week max.
the quality work is normal, 450 miles are not a big deal if you are in shape.
we used to do 430 mile repeats, on sawdust, and that was the B group.
the A group was doing 420 miles times 6 repeats.
so the 940 2 miles repeats is not special, but very solid.
if the guy was not very tired at the end of the workout, then he's on track.
but if he's well knackered, then, well, he's screwed.
remember you want to train 80 percent of your capability, which is a lot,
i'd predict as a rule of thumb any guy that does 150 miles, well, he's not going to do very well at all.
good to prove the stats on this wrong.
