I think that would be perfect, erik. Much better than my original suggestion to limit blockquoting by number of characters or lines, then putting it on the user to edit if exceeded.
Serves the constituency that hates the scroll-scroll-scroll-scroll-scroll-scrolling to get through reams of indented quotes just see a single one-liner at the end. But at the same time spares posters any extra work so they can still rip off replies super-quickly on the fly. Easy enough to refer back to the entire quote hierarchy with one click if needed.
Very elegant and Solomon-like solution.
