These guys are sprinters. It is unlikely that any amount of training will yield that kind of endurance, which does require a measure of aerobic talent.

800- 2:05-2:15
There are certainly many better than that. I don't have a soccer background but I remember 30 years ago ca. 15 yo running around 2:50 1000m times from regular soccer training with zero track specialization or middle distance experience. This is already about 2:10 for the 800m. Granted, some became regional/national top youths when they switched to track running. Among top professional adult players, especially midfielders, many must be able to run around 2:00 800m if 15 yo run 2:10-15 of 3 soccer sessions a week or so.
Of course such questions are usually vague because it is not clear if one means what guys could run just from soccer training or with a couple of months of focus on the respective distance.

Heck, Lance Armstrong could barely break 3 off the couch. Consider that.
Thoughts?
LOL - Lance Armstrong didn't even play soccer!
Nah, but they wouldn’t suck, they’d jog it in about 90 minutes. With even just 6-8 weeks of regular road running, sub 80.
They’d both run 4:4x for the mile any day of the week, even if they sat on their butts eating Cheetos for a few months they’d probably still threaten 5:00 and if they’re in great shape for soccer, I’d wager they’d get into the 16/17 min range quite easily for 5k.
Don’t underestimate soccer players, you need to be doing lots of aerobic work to play at that level. You have to be seriously FIT and FAST.
I think you guys are overvaluing the amount of aerobic talent needed to run 1:15 in the HM. A good or exceptional athlete with dedicated specific training should be able to get into the ballpark of 75 minutes.
I speak from some experience. I was a jumper/sprinter and soccer player in high school. I was good but not exceptional in HS at both sports (49.xx, 6’8”, 22+’, all state in soccer). I got zero exercise between 22-34, got fat etc and started running again this summer. I haven’t run 75 minutes in the HM but certainly think it is in the realm of possibility over the next few training cycles. Running 2 months of 70ish miles weeks has gotten me down to a 16:40 5k and some longer type workouts that lead Me to believe that my current fitness is 78-80 minutes.
I have a hard time believing the Ronaldo couldn’t duplicate or better my times on a similar program.
Another example, decathlete I am friends with got really into distance running. He was most definitely a fast twitch guy. After 5+ years of consistent high mileage training he worked his way down to 76 and 2:36.
Moral of the story, don’t underestimate the transferability of raw athleticism. A lot of this stuff can be learned.
After retiring from football (he was a defender for Real Madrid and Spain's world cup winning team), Alvaro Arbeloa has run a sub 1:20 half marathon (I think his best is 1:16). He's probably the fastest footballer out there at long distances.
For that that, I would look into a boxer. A boxer could probably do it. A few though, not all.
First of all they don't run 10k for every match. They walk, jog, run, etc. in total but hardly more than 50-60m in a row.
There is no chance that they could break 1:15 right now. Maybe with specific training for 5-6 months, if ever.
But I don't doubt that there are plenty of players that could do it with some training.
