You most definitely have no experience with dogs. Almost every dog can detect someone running along the street from inside a house, even when you don't hear a thing. If a sensor is being set off, it will most definitely also set off the dog. Even if a sensor is not being set off, something can still set off the dog.
With regards to the sensor, in almost every case, a family will buy the sensor, have it installed, have it configured by the company, and will have absolutely no idea how to deal with it after that.
Some of my neighbors have sensors and you have to walk halfway up the driveways to set them off.
The main thing is that people aren't going to tell a neighbor not to run in the morning. It would be like asking someone to change jobs because the neighbors were woken up when he/she left early in the morning. As much as we would like to think so, most people aren't that stupid.
