4.6 oz, not hyperburst but ultra flight
4.6 oz, not hyperburst but ultra flight
It's like if the GR7 was a racing flat. Same outsole/midsole except for different foam compound, which I'm pretty sure is their "budget" foam. Not sure how it performs.
Looks like a nice shoe except for that god-awful upper design. Almost like a replacement for the Nike Lunaracer. Definitely one of the higher cushion-to-weight racing flats on the market (so far, until the Vaporfly clones descend upon us).
That was my impression. Budget version of the Gorun 7 with ultra flight instead of hyperburst and a racer upper.
Everyone here has said everything I have heard.
Ultra Flight (Flight Gen?) midsole, which was pretty darn great before Hyperburst was a thing. Upper is like the GR7H, but "fixed", whatever that means.
I think it looks pretty sporty - Skechers is apparently actually listening to the folks slamming the looks of their recent shoes - but I am not planning to get a pair. The Speed 6 is just an absolutely fantastic racing flat; possibly the best ever made. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the Razor 3+. I wanna take that thing to dinner...

My only problem with this shoe is the bottom grip.
A year ago I would said Skechers WTF? But at least they are trying new things. Many shoe companies have gone into hibernation out of shock at the Vaporflys.

They forgot to have that key meeting, "wait Altra already has the Vanish!"
You don't find the Speed 6 away too narrow? Sized up a couple sizes?
I have the Horizon. I scooped them up when they were released in the Spring. Great casual shoe, but I wouldn't run far in them. Not a lot of midsole, but if you like to be a bit closer to the ground, go for it.

I ripped out the glued in midsole and replaced it with something super thin. I also made 2 small cuts: 1 at the big toe, and 1 outside the 5th metatarsal. Unfortunately, I wear the biggest size they make. Still, I would call it a TTS "race fit".

I just find the compromise in fit a major de-enhancer.
Currently I'm trying out Boston 8 which is suprisingly roomy with a medial straight shape flaring out laterally enough. Speaking of Adidas can't wait to see what is in store for the Japanese favorite, Adizero RC for next quarter. Back in the day (10-12') Adidas and Asics had true Japanese lasts (topo wide at met heads little to no medial taper) imported. These were the Tarther and RC. I never did try out takumi Sen/Ren but they definitely didn't hurt Keitany (18' nycm) and Jepkosgei this year at NY

3+ is soooo sexy
Same midsole, improved(?) upper (but MUCH better looking)
Continental Rubber outsole
.1oz lighter
Speed 6 may be the best non-plated shoe I have ever worn. Hyperburst was made for racing flats. If I could get this exact shoe in the shape of a Topo, I would buy 10 pairs.
Jeff, Have you tried the Topo Zephyr? If so, what are your thoughts? Thanks
Yes.
Initial step in was great, but they didn't work for me. A little... clunky? That said, I was in the minority; most of the other RTRs loved them.
They are super comfy, at least. I just didn't enjoy the ride :-/

Ever try the Zoom Fly SP? How do some of these compare to them (I live in a remote location)?

The Zoom Fly SP *Fast* - slightly different model - is a fantastic trainer. I snatch those things up when I can; they pop up at Ross and StockX for super cheap.
Geez, Skechers keeps coming out with exceptional racers!
Nothing wrong with the UltraFlight foam, it's just not Hyperburst.
At 4.6oz and decent protection/cushioning this shoe is a monster. With the pod sole you could use it on the track, too.
I wish they would step up their trainer game a little, the uppers on the GR7 and Maxroad4 SUCK. I mean, keep the knit but include a TONGUE design so they can actually be tightened where they need to be and not a "one size fits some" full knit sock design.
I'm lucky to have a Skechers outlet near my house, and I stop in every week to see what's in the clearance section. So I've been able to buy and try many of their shoes for $25-40. I picked up a pair of Speed6 last month for $30 but haven't run in them yet because I'm nursing an achilles issue. I'm doing most of my miles in Maxroad3 and 4, with a smattering of Ride7. I'm anxiously waiting for Razor3 and Ride8 models to show up there.
YES on the Zoomfly SP, they are in local Ross stores for $55 but in limited supply. I haven't run in them but I'm curious.
Oops, I spoke too soon!
Skechers has ALREADY done away with the horrible uppers!

YAY!
Maybe the MaxTrail6 will have a rock plate? Despite being a "max" shoe little rocks still hurt my feet through the Max Trail5 sole. I was very sorry to wear them for last year's Calico 50k; it's more of a flat, hardpacked trail shoe, more like a road shoe in it's capabilities.
