the AA schools aren't using 7th and 8th graders to fill teams, they are not developing athletes and are jumping to the next fastest kid available. Then when the athlete stops being fast for them they move on. this happens at lots of schools in NYS, not just the top ones.
Saratoga won because saratoga has trained the current 9th graders for two full years. They have a group of talented kids, who haven't become teen age girls yet, haven't hit puberty, and they've run them very hard. Most of these kids will do what most saratoga kids do, they will be at their fastest now and will disappear in a couple of years after not improving or running worse.
I mean seriously, How does a AA school in NYS not have ANY juniors or seniors... does saratoga develop athletes at all or is it just if your talented we will make you fast for a couple of years and if you don't have talent go away?
