You think immigration laws are ugly and nasty? Are you a child?
When you are confronted with opinions and values that differ from your own do you always respond with demonization and insults?

The notion that people who are here without legal status (e.g., overstay of visa) are not "illegal" is completely absurd.
The legal consequences of overstaying a visa can be quite significant, leading to exclusions of 3 to 10 years from re-entering the country. And visa overstayers have significantly less due process than many other groups. Why anyone familiar with immigration law would fixate on this abstract notion of being illegal or not is beyond my comprehension.
The laws are not flexible, and the consequences of violating them are quite drastic.
Did you ever stop and wonder why visa overstayers have "significantly less due process than many other groups?" It is because it is adjudicated as a civil offense, not a criminal one. If it is a criminal offense there is more process due.
Your "brain" thinks at the level of my turds.
What do you mean bled dry in Oregon, he received a free college education and coaching that turned him from a good high school runner to a world class athlete, good enough to turn pro.
Living in the US on a student visa, instead of being poor in Kenya was a great opportunity for him. Just like the thousands of other foreign students in the US, they need to return home after completing their studies or find an employer who will obtain a work visa for them.
Just being in the US on a student or work visa does not mean you’ll become a US citizen, or even a legal resident.
I did not mention the distinction between criminal law and civil law. You did - meaning that your straw man assertion is well - just that. My conclusion that there are significant consequences to visa overstays is unassailable. And being jailed until deportation may not be the result of a criminal charge, but since there is a loss of freedom I find the distinction meaningless in practical terms. You may make ad hominem attacks, but I can assure you my educational accomplishments are well in excess of yours, as it is rare to find anyone on Let's Run who has obtained equal achievements. Your response is typical of Let's Run, with a worldview scarcely developed outside of running, a marginal sport and activity. And again, name calling seems to be preferred over all else, something I think about as I left running to make a professional career with a rich intellectual life as well as considerable wealth. Cheers, and try again without the name calling, if capable.
His wiki page lists him as an American distance runner. He is not.
