That ladder was short but I think she will do very well. Congrats!

Very sexy hire, Dan. Wow. Impressive. You really aren’t interested in winning, are you?
This is what wrong w our profession. Ton of qualified coaches paying their dues and doing whats right and they hire a name.

She has coached at two other universities. Keep crying.
Which D2? Can’t find any mention of it online.
Try again. She's a name, recruiter and coach. Check out DI Missouri State. Was a dud of a sprint program until her spark.

If u look at the program the year before she got
There they were pretty good and there was a steady decline in performance while she was there. Lets tale the 100, 200, 400 for example
100
2017-11.38
2018-11.55
2019-11.64
200
2017-23.57
2018-23.37
2019-24.21
400
2017-55.52
2018-55.24
2019-55.12
The program got worse. Now she didnt destroy is but dont act like this program sucked and she built it up. It got worse in two events and basically stayed the same at 400m.

What other two? She coached 2 years of hs and 2 years at missouri state. Sometimes its just the truth and its not always hating. How will our profession ever move forward if we constantly appliad these kind of moves because people are scared to speak their minds. Im happy where im at. I currently make over 55,000 as a head and im very stable. I hate it for younger and older coaches who have pit im the work, paid their dues and dont get a call back because a power five hired an olympian. I dont blame jet though, its smart on her part but i hope she does a good job and doesnt expose herself if she truly isnt ready for the job. I wish her the best.
Agree or disagree with this hire...She is a great name and was a great athlete, but a young coach with short resume. Alabama obviously feels she brings something to the table. They are already pretty good in the sprints and have been for 6-7 years, so she doesn’t have to be a savior. Whether she can coach or not, no one can argue with the recruiting impact this could have and talent is always the most important thing. What female sprinter won’t want to visit Alabama now? She gives Alabama something no other SEC program has, whether that’s a good thing or bad thing will be determined in time. For now Roll Carmelita Roll!

Look for all of them to have a late-career surge at around 27 years old.

I agree w this to a certain degree. But honestly alot of track and field athletes dont watch track and field. Of u watch the flotrack
Documentary the houston 400 guy didnt know
Who carl lewis was when he was recruiting him. Its a different era now. Alot
Of these athletes dont keep up w the sport but if they do then they will know her and that is a positive but id rather have someone that has put in the work and its just not a good look for our profession to keep feeding the rich. Id rather find a girl or guy who has put in the work and been successful with less resources but thats just me and ive never been on the p5 level so ill just leave it alone lol
Talking about the ex-Quinnipiac distance coach
Simply observing your grammar, it's not wonder you didn't get the Alabama job.

Um, since when is grammar required to work at Alabama. Is being able to read even required?

Did you happen to notice the girls who ran those times in 2017 and 2018 were no longer there in 2019? So it isn't as if she regressed some top athletes. She just had to refill a cupboard when athletes left due to an overall coaching change.
If he was forced to hire a female minority it might aswell be a name that can be used in recruiting. Its the only way to make a win out of a bad situation. Or would you rather hire like last year with bar managers and a woman that had the ability to recruit a full 7 for cross as the only thing on a resume.
Arm chair quarterbacks should leave the hiring to the university/athletic dept/head coach. The fact that so many are critical of so many hires is evidence that so many don't understand the process.
Each school knows exactly what they are looking for. And it isn't always the most accomplished or experienced resume. sometimes they want someone they can teach and mold in a specific way. Sometimes they want someone to better relate to the student-athletes. Sometimes they want someone that will be grateful for an entry level salary. Sometimes they want someone who will be glad to do "all the little things" that many coaches think are "beneath them" because they are so experienced and accomplished. Sometimes they want someone that can bring a very specific thing to the recruiting process.
How about just being a little nicer to one another in your own profession?

I mean she may be the best option for their program but they definitely did the last coach pretty dirty. Unless he was doing some extremely shady stuff getting rid of him after 5 months work into the teeth of a pandemic only to hire someone with less experience ( although the opportunity to be a great Recruiter) is not a great look imo
