Offhand, over 1500m I'd guess most trained runners may or may not beat a squirrel or a black mamba.
Guy throws out squirrel and snake and people immediately jump to horse (probably the worst possible guess to this question).
My gut tells me that a squirrel would win hands down over 10 meters because they go from zero to top speed in the blink of an eye, but once a human hits top speed, he's overtaking the squirrel quite easily.
That's because we've had attempted brainwashing of humans being the best long distance animals on the planet. If that's our true strength then it makes sense to jump to the horse comparison.
But it turns out humans actually just suck at running in general.
I guess it makes sense to try to make them able to compete with at least some sort of terrible running animal out of its niche.
