I think it jumped the shark around 2014 or so, I believe that’s the year I read a short article in the New York Times talking about how teenagers in North Korea were using an underground internet app to agitate for an end to the dictatorship, and among other things would pass around jokes and insults about Kim Jong Un’s haircut and his weight. NYT did not exactly go on a PC rant about it, but they did describe the teens as “fat-shaming” one of the worst authoritarian and murderous dictators of our time. I thought maybe they should get their priorities straight, but what do I know.
In other news, "jump the shark" jumped the shark a long time ago.
