I’ve never understood the constant attacks about Alberto being a bad person. I believe there are a select few who push this and post over and over.
I’ve never met him but have a close friend who knows him well and he’s nothing but the nicest things to say about him.
I believe the truth is somewhere in the middle. Alberto only knows how to train athletes one way and that’s full tilt, 110% everyday. The problem was that an 18yr old wasn’t ready for that. You add in all the hormonal changes an 18 yr old female is going through and this was a recipe for disaster. He had great success with Cain in 2013 at her lower weight. She gained weight and things went south fast. He tried to get her back to her 2013 weight but her body had changed. So yes you can blame Alberto for not training her differently than his other top pros but I just don’t think that’s in his dna.
As far as Levins and Begley. If you want to be the best you can’t be over “running weight”. I don’t look down on Alberto at all for trying to get runners to lose weight as long as it’s done in a healthy fashion via diet, which it sounds like he head a nutritionist on board helping. Again, any other sport and this is never even an issue. I’m running we have applied an additional set of standards , whether right or wrong, are coming back to hurt Salazar.
