I love Des. She's long been one of my favorite runners. And I really appreciated her racing yesterday and her interviews afterwards. She just went for it! And she was less than a minute off the American record. Just solid stuff.
The love is right here. You gave it.
Stop money whoring at Boston and New York.
I think if she would go to Dubai or Amsterdam or a fast course and lock in to a fast but even pace, I don’t see why she couldn’t run 2:22.
However, after yesterday’s run and looking quite well at the finish...I’m stepping out and saying she’s going to rethink her plans and will run the trials.

Whiny, judgemental, derogatory towards teammates and fellow American competitors, wearing brooks fakerflys, got destroyed by 4 minutes.
Love her.

She doesn't give a s*** on what others think. Rightfully so.
Who?

She definitely cares. Just watch how she changes her comments.
She lashed out against Ritz and Hansons and got some backlash from the public and hasn’t gone back there.
She wants to run Ny/Boston/Ny for the money and skip the trials. So she goes public about drugs at the Olympics. This is a stupid argument as the WMM have the same athletes. The public called her out. She cared and changed her argument to I’ve already done the Olympics and it no longer feels special. Another dumb argument as she continues to run Ny and Boston even though she has done them several times. So she moved the goal posts again and said she will see how she recovers from NY.
She bashed Vaporflys through all of 2017 and wore the Brooks version in 2018. Her pointing at her competitors came across as hypocritical so to please others she changed the argument to I wish it wasn’t about technology.
She always raced even paced races and was often criticized for not going for it in the early stages. She heard you loud and clear.
She cares what everyone thinks and responds accordingly.
Linden and Ward are two of my favorite runners but it’s gotten old watching them do Boston and/or NYC every year and finish in 5th - 10th place and “top American”. Obviously the money is best at these races but I’d love to see them run London, Berlin, Tokyo, or one of the Gold Label marathons and chase a faster time or a win at a slightly less prestigious race. At least Linden has her Boston win, but it’d be nice to see Ward win a marathon.

I don't think others give a s*** what she thinks either.
Ward and Linden's competitors are much, much faster at 5k and 10k. They simply have the wheels and talent that these two don't. Kudos for their fine performances in getting a lot out of themselves.
Good for her for going hard early. We know she can run her own race. Doing it in front instead of off the pack was different.
She loves bourbon...so she gets a hard pass for all that other stuff! Go Des!!!!
What about Chicago, a WR was set there.
My family is a staunchly dry, so I can't support her on a moral or ethical basis due to her pubic endorsement of alcoholism.
I don't care what you do in private, but please don't shove your lifestyle down my family's throat.
Always will be a fan, especially after 2018 Boston.
Really I was thinking the samething...when will she take a go at Dubai, London, or Berlin while she still have it and could surely go 2:21-2:22. Heck she might have a once in a lifetime europhy and shock the world with a 2:20 because even that isn't out of her capability with solid training and just alittle luck with weather and a bold but good run on one of those ultra fast courses.

Yeah she lost me when she began throwing out wild accusations. She's like a degenerate letsrun poster but not a troll—she actually exists. Not a good look.

She's NOT going to run 2:21-2:22 and you can take that to the bank old man---NOT happening.
Do you have a clue that she ran Boston 8.5 years ago with a strong tailwind in 2:22:38 when she was still in her 20's?
You think she's going to go faster next year at age 37 and surely slowing down?
Do you realize that she did run Berlin in 2013?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
