I ran 3:24:33, but my big concern is my left calf buckled/cramped several times during miles 25 and 26. Is this normal?
Did ok for my first time, but still slow by LR standards. Went out slow as everyone recommended. My watch doesn't take lap splits well at all (i.e. if I try to take a lap split it won't let me go back to the normal stopwatch function easily but it's an old watch) so I am doing this by memory.
8:36 for the first mile, then 16:46 for second mile (8:10), then settled in to pace. I didn't know what MP was so I went by feel.
24:32-3
32:05-4
39:40-5
47:05 ish-6
54:55-7
62:10-8
1:10:05-9
1:17:30-10
1:25:00-11 mile Angel Mile, which is tougher than it looks due to the uphill. It is deceivingly hard.
(I must have missed Mile 12)
1:39:55-13
1:40:45-13.1 (not my 1:39 PR but I was saving a bit).
1:47:15-14
1:54:55-15
2:03:58?-16 (I know I was happy to get under 2:04 at 16).
2:10:30-17
2:18:xx?-18 (I know I was happy to break 2:20 at that point, which was my previous best in training).
2:26:50-19
2:34:10-20 (I know this for sure because I was 2:36 before and I was like yes!)
2:41:58-21
2:49:55-22 (slowed to 7:56 pace or thereabouts)
2:57:55-23 (starting to feel soreness in leg but never hit wall)
3:05:xx-24 (the mile clock thing was broken)
3:14:xx-25 (my left calf started buckling and a bunch of girls blew by me in a pack and they were chatting without a problem, so I need to work on my endurance)
3:23:xx-26
3:24:33-26.2
Overall I'm happy but I'll have to fix my mechanics (calves, hips, glutes, quads) to prevent cramping agains in the future.
I will say I'm grateful for your advice about starting slow. I passed quite a few from mile 20 onward that had to walk!
