Don't rate anyones career until they are done competing, a horrible ending will taint the entire thing. If he never gets on the podium again he will be quickly forgotten.
I agree that you shouldn't rate someone's career before their done but he could finish in last in every race he runs for the next ten years and still be more accomplished than any other American distance runner ever.
Now, if they go back and strip some of his achievements like they did with Marion Jones, that would be different.
(By the way, Hall's 2:04+ marathon was wind-aided. Rupp has a faster record eligible marathon PR and his 2:06:07 was in a race where he won. Rupp has 3 major marathon victories and an Olympic medal in both the marathon and the 10,000. Hall does have 4 major marathon victories but no Olympic medals)
Sure, Rupp was probably juiced to the gills.
