15k 41.02

57.59!!!!!!
Dang that's crazy fast. Where was this at?
Copenhagen Half Marathon
I was very lucky to know few minutes before the race that he was going to attempt a Half WR and they were streaming it LIVE!! Crazy fast race!
Pacers also dropped out at 12k so he was solo after
He also breaks the current 15k record of cheptegei during his split
Think his intention was to achieve the 15K WR as well within the race unless it was only the winds pushing him particularly at that 3rd 5km segment
They changed it. It's 58:01

Now THAT is impressive. Sub 55. Sub 58.
I wonder if this will last longer than Kiptum's?

How can a split be a record?? I mean the 15k course is NOT WR-eligible because it's effectively point-to-point?

If the distance as the crow flies between the start & 15km point is less than 7.5km (ie., less then 50% of the distance) it will be record-eligible.
100% short course
Okay they changed it to 58:01
5km 13:53
10km 27:34 (13:41)
15km 41:05 (13:31) =WB
20km 55:00 (13:56) WB
21.097km 58:01 (3:01)
2:45/km or 4:25/mile
I want to know what the course profile is from 10K to 15K because 13:31 for that split in a half is completely bonkers.
Check out the last 5+ Minutes here:

There was a course profile posted. I THINK it was on the Super_ Halfs Instagram page. Maybe their website.
I measured the course with another IAAF Measurer - Maurice Winterman back in August. Our measurements were within 0.30 m of each other.
Maurice was also at the race on a bicycle to validate that the course that was measured was the course that was run. I couldn't be there because I was attending the Japanese Olympic Trials Marathon which was also the test event for the Olympics.
Great run! I loved seeing how fired-up and excited he was after crossing the line. WR done! I’m sure Kipchoge was one of the first congratulate him. Now onto Sub-2 for Kipchoge!
