I'm not super-fast compared to most highschool female runners, but I love everything about xc. I started late too, only in 10th grade when I'd never gone running longer than ten minutes before. I'm currently a senior and my PR is 20:07, I'm hoping to be under 20 by November.
I've been thinking about running in college. I'm obviously nowhere near good enough to run DI lol but do you think it would be worth it to run DIII or possibly DII? I'm not sure what I want to pursue in college. I might go to a community college to save money, but would it be worth it to choose a college with an xc team willing to let me run? What do you guys think?
You are not too slow to run at some of the worse D1 schools, and some D3 schools grab whatever girls they can get so they can have get more guys on the team (balances out the numbers).
How were your track times?
Your education should come first
Going to community college for two years then into a D1 (or D3 I guess) program isn't a bad idea to save some money and still get a good degree. Staying instate should be another option.
Bold - Pick a degree that is worth the cost and time of college, try to figure out what type of work you want to do and understand what jobs you can (or are likely to) get with each degree. You should also take into consideration what grades you expect to get vs what degree. If you chose engineering, there are OK jobs for bad engineers(GPA less than 3). But if you chose chemistry and get a 2.7 GPA your going to end up as a lab tech with not great pay or upward mobility for awhile (as compared to a engineer or chemistry major with a 3.5 who has many more options).
