MHSAA barred the Northville girls team from competing after qualifying at the midwest regional. In the end the team got to compete in Oregon that year and the those that ran had a 3 race suspension the following year. The door is closed for any future Michigan teams unless the the member schools/ADs get the MHSAA rules changed.

Masciarellli competes in Prep New England Championships this 11/9 for NEPSTA D4 schools in Hebron ME
Appleton competes in Prep New England Championships 11/9 for NEPSTA D3 in Litchfield CT. Both won their respective Divisions last year. Appleton's older brother won boys as well. Good luck to both girls as they wind up pre school championship seasons for 2019 as juniors.
Margot Appleton takes NEPSTA Title D 3 in 16:36
Sydney Masciarelli takes NEPSTA D4 Title in 18:48
Congrats to both
Claire Walters ran very well again today - 161 SR winning by 50 seconds, 1 minute faster than she ran the same course in September.

3.01 miles for Appleton's race.
Tuohy ran 17:13 today at Bowdoin Park in her Sectional Meet (166 SR) saying after the race she was not pressing and "wanted to be fresh for States (next week). " Next week is a fast course, and Claire Walters and Brooke Rauber are running well so she will be pushed, though it figures to be a little cold in Plattsburgh.

For a second I thought this meant that they both ran on the same course... thanks for the above poster for noting that they were at different courses. 16:36 at this point in the season is certainly eye opening. Would be interesting to see the speed ratings if they're put up.
I found some results from the top 10s from each races to see some sort of statistical comparison.

D3 was in CT D4 in ME.
Both courses are listed as 5,000 Meters.
Do prep school courses get speed rated?
AS an FYI, in IL yesterday, Tatum David won the 2A race in 16.04, which was faster than Katelynn Hart's winning time in 3A, 16.05. Worth noting.
Tuohy finished 8 seconds faster than last year NXR and about 4 seconds slower than than 2017. She crosses the finish line running easy and barely breathing. She is obviously saving herself for next weekend. Nice to see her have a good time at the finish line.
There are some girls that are running really well (Starliper, THorvaldson, Walters, Ewert, Hart) and may be able to push her a little, but Tuohy looks like she has trained really well and has yet to put a real effort into a race this year. I will be impressed if anyone can stay within 20-30 seconds of her.
Walters had a strong race and has really improved over the past few years. She is a real threat for top 3.
Nice to see Starliper rounding into form...she could be a force.
Should be a great race.
Everyone who had been saying Starliper was improving/looking good this year was right. I don’t think Tuohy is going to have anyone to run with but her lead may be smaller than in the past.
I think Starliper doing the nxn FL double is great and hopefully she isn’t too tired and can still run her best at FL.
Masciarelli isn’t really having the year people thought she would and if Tuohy ran FL I don’t think it would be close.
I believe Syd the kid may be having the year that SHE thought she would, though. She's healthy and just now wrapping up a year of top US level high school XC. She has already started practice for basketball season, where she returns as previous year's MVP. She won her division of the NE prep school XC championship, and qualified for Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego, where she has a chance to defend her national title. Sounds pretty good to me...and there are still 2 weeks to go.

I’m not saying she’s a terrible runner, just that she’s not on the level of Tuohy and wouldn’t be able to stay with her if they ran against each other. So far she has been running slower than last year, which is fine is she is planning on peaking at FL, but in my opinion other girls are showing that they’ve improved and Masciarelli is no longer in the conversation. It’s the same with someone like Hart, awesome runner but not my pick for the winner.

no longer in the conversation? lol...maybe not the one you're having with yourself...
Yes, nice to see Starliper peaking again at the right time. Will be very interesting to see if any girls take on the risk of trying to run with Tuohy at the beginning, and risk burning out. Will be a very good race for the top 5 spots regardless.
I'm sure Syd is not happy with the loss at regionals. She stated before she wanted to improve on her times and break 17min this year in one of the races (of course, she still has one to go). She was surprised by Starliper taking the downhill as quick as she did. But having said that, winning regionals would have been nice...but Nats is the goal. She got there and looks pretty good. Many of the top FL runners are also doing NXN, so they may be a bit more tired than Syd at FL. Wonder if that plays into the final placement.
Too bad she is not doing NXN as well. But looks to be a great race at FL.
I think Thorvaldson might as she went out fast herself at the NW NXR. Starliper maybe as well, though I don't think she has in the past. But I don't see Hart or Walters or Vanderkoi going with Tuohy if she is sub 5:10 for the 1st mile. Walters has a team race to think about, and she needs to beat all the other team runners such as Ewert,
Man Tuohy looks really good at regionals!
Won by 30 seconds and wasn't even winded, a lot of the other girls were almost collapsing!
Portland is soggy conditions which only gives Tuohy strength and athleticism more of an edge
Starliper never race there before I might be tough for her first time
I see Tuohy cruising to an easy 30-second win!
