Lagat ran his First sub 13 at age 30 or 31 and his final sub 13 at 38 or 39, he holds the OVER 40 record at 13:06, if he had decided he wanted to be a 5000 runner in his early to mid 20's he would have a MUCH FASTER Personal Best than 12:53, Such is his talent, he could have been a Very Good Marathoner had he chosen to focus on the Marathon at a Young age, he runs a 2:12.10 at age 44 going out very conservatively and running a negative split, he may have a ceiling of 2:09-2:10 NOW (In perfect conditions) he has an outside shot at making the Olympics in the Marathon and he will be 45 at the Trials.
