What a joke of an excuse. Do you Brits have a hard time motivating yourself to get out the door every day?

Maybe, or maybe not. Just look at Andrew Wheating.

He had two bad races, both coming at the end of the European season.
Up until that point all his season's results had been solid to outstanding. He was coming back from an injury in the indoor season too.
Think he pulled out of the Birmingham Grand Prix and had a 3 week gap between Monaco and his next race. Maybe that was a mistake in hindsight, and he would have been better trying to keep his momentum.
I haven't heard any excuses from him. He could easily have claimed an injury or at least a niggle for his trials performance but he admitted he just ran a bad race.

Three bad races. EU team champs. British champs and now 'The Match'.
3 is greater than 1.
There's no excuses from him because this is just Grice running his best. He's never won anything, always been a good time trialler. It's only you who is expecting him to win world championship medals etc.
Usually there is a kick in a championship and he always comes last out of the decent runners. 3:30 or not it makes no difference when the winning time is 3:45.
He's nowhere near to being the best 1500m runner in the UK right now let alone since Steve Cram or whatever crazy comment you made.

Because you make the excuses for him! "Must have been hard to lift himself up for this". Oh the poor despondent lad. I'm surprised he could find the strength to carry him to the start line.
Not sure what 'towards the end of the European season' is supposed to mean also?!
World champs is end of September. That's the peak of the European and rest of the World's season haha.
Not sure what this 'European season' is.

I agree with you, with one exception. He did win the British Championships in 2014, 2015 & 2016. Since then, he's finished out of the money.
I'd love to have someone explain to me how this happened. How do you go from first to worst? (4th being worst, since you just missed a medal.)

Errr.. the last races on the European circuit? Is Doha in Europe now? You really are dense.
How dare he celebrate contributing to a winning team performance!! To think ex-runner likely destroyed his body with EPO, roids, hgh, and rat poison to get his PB of 1:57 and he never got to pose holding a trophy!

Lots of explanations for Grice's drop off in form.
However, I can't help thinking that if Grice was African your only explanation would be - He came off the sauce too soon.
There is a lot of hate towards Grice on this thread!
He won Ostrava, Marseille, Boston against high quality competition and ran 3:30 off a limited build up (He was in a boot in March!)
. Up to the trials has had his best ever season. He would have been a better pick for Worlds since it's going to be a long wind up by Cheruiyot and the Ingebrigtsens.
Watch all Brits get dusted in the first round. Wightman will make the semi's.

He’d have the same struggles just getting to the finals. Have you seen his last races?
Good news - all of you crybabies still get to watch Grice get smoked, only he'll be in the 800m.
Actually he's listed in both the 800m and the 1500m. Why would GBR get 4 entrants? I know the entry list is just "provisional", so maybe they scratch down from there?
He should take Langford's spot in the 800. Langford has had a horrific season and didnt deserve to be selected!

Please, people, the IAAF is filling out the fields. So both of them can go.
The best part is that we'll get to see whether Grice has what his supporters said he had, or whether he's the time-trialer his critics claim

He set a pb and was the only British guy under 1:45. Besides, after being robbed of a bronze last time he should have been given an automatic place by the IAAF - maybe put him straight in the final.
At least give the Brits four places and limit the Kenyans to two.
It will be great if Charlie Grice is competing and in both the 800 and 1500, but I'm sure I saw him post himself sunbathing on an American beach just the other day.

Grice will struggle, Langford might struggle also. His best race put him 9th or something.
