Hmmm is it too early to say Nick has jumped the shark ??
There are few things I enjoy more than a jump the shark debate.
I am old enough to remember the original JTS website. You used to be able vote for, and even suggest, when a show jumped. A classic JTS meme/trope was a show jumped when Ted McGinley joined the cast. I thought Urban Dictionary had a good definition that is applicable to Nick. JTS is when a show "reaches a point at which far-fetched events are included merely for the sake of novelty, indicative of a decline in quality."
In the Nick Symmonds show...Nick himself is truly McGinley-esque. No one can deny how great he was between 2008 -2013. Since that peak, there are several JTS moments for the guy which can be characterized as "far-fetched events are included merely for the sake of novelty, indicative of a decline in quality." If this was the original JTS website, we'd be voting on things like:
- Nick runs a beer mile
- Nick fails to complete any obstacles in Ninja Warrior
- Nick runs a marathon
- Nick runs 100m
- Nick runs 100m in snow boots
- Nick runs 100m in 1 snowboot, 1 ski
- Nick run 10m backwards in skis
It is only a matter of time before he long jumps over a sand shark.
