Not likely you will get bit. Eighty percent of snakenbites are people who are "handling" snakes. You leave them alone and they will leave you alone. I suppose if you step on one you might get bit but that is hard to do. If you do, go to the hospital. If it is a venomous snake (I don't know where you live but rattlers are the most common venomous ones where I come from) try to identify it and let them know which anti-venom to use. In the US you are VERY unlikely to die from snakebite unless are you are old, weak, sick, etc. You'll get sick but be fine generally (but do avoid Eastern diamondbacks, and Mojave rattlers). Even if it's not venomous you may want see a doc to avoid infections. And let me remind you one more time that it is highly unlikely you will get bit.
Bite it back
If you just run on by you will be ok......There are a lot of snakes out this year!!!!

amen to that, i almost stepped on a coral snake down here in texas. it was like a foot away from my leg (i was barefoot at the time). scary as crap
That snake wants nothing more than to see you dead.
I've been bitten several times by non-venomous snakes..no big deal, clean it, band-aid. If you get bit by a venomous snake, walk, don't run, to the nearest house, phone, etc.
Don't try to suck out the poison...that doesn't work. Water moccassin, rattlers and copperheads can really do an number on you....not to mention the scary shit down south.
You won't get bit unless you do something stupid (like me) like trying to catch the snake to show your kids.
i've seen a lot of snakes lately too. i was doing a shake-out one evening last week and saw one and decided to throw rocks at it. i don't think it liked it very much, but it was pretty fun at least; made a monotonous run interesting.
Where do you live? Cuz i do not want to move there! 4 snakes 7 days, I would move. Saw a 5Ft Water Moc at White rock Lake is Dallas, I left the next day. Snakes are bad, you ever see riki Tiki tavi. Note snakes wanted to kill the family!
What about copperheads? Are they venomous enough to kill you?
Copperheads are venemous enough to kill you if you are a baby or a sickly person who never seeks treatment for the bite. Other than that, copperhead bites are rarely fatal. But I hear a copperhead bite feels quite similar to a red hot iron piercing your flesh followed by a nice dousing of rubbing alcohol.
if your a snake expert this may sound stupid, but how do u know if the snake that bit u is venomous?
