Galen had many chances in places like Eugene, Brussels, Paris and Zurich. It is funny how the good runners can run well there but not Galen?
Galen had opportunities for a fast time. Monaco 2011. Zurich 2012. Monaco 2013, Paris 2014. Stockholm 2014 and Brussels 2015 where he designated the pacers and stuck on them early. His problems seems to be when the rabbit drops out at 3k. He's never really been able to keep the 62's going (12:55 pace) needed for an AR (12:53) clocking which is was he was shooting for.
Monaco 2011 (Farah won in 12:53) he DNF'd pretty early for some reason. Monaco 2013 (Soi won in 12:51) they went out WAY too fast, 4:05/7:41 1600m/3k and the pacing was awful and it was hot. Stockholm 2014 (Edris won in 12:54) they went out in a smooth paced 7:45, but no one helped with the pace and Rupp started running 64 mid's. Brussels 2015 (won by Kijelcha in 12:53). Not really any excuses, he just didn't have it that day.
He really went for it on the DL in 2014, but none of the races that year were blazing. (2014 WL - Edris 12:54). You have to think, he's a 12:58 runner going for a 12:53 and DL races are rarely ever won that fast. Likely for him, everything has to go right. Kijeclha on the other hand could probably run that tomorrow if he wanted to.
