Do you people have trails for goodness sake? I see forest and kudzu all around, but not a single trail near W-S state and Salem College, except maybe a park under construction... where can I run from that immediate location for tomorrow?

salem lake dawg. great trail- 7 miles around for the loop.
Hey, either get into the kudzu or move to the CA or OR coast and get some real trails.
But remember, lots of hot, humid southern cities like yours seem to make it into the RW top25 running cities. If Houston can do it, WS can too!!

Certainly haven't looked hard. There's a paved trail RIGHT NEXT TO both Salem College and WSSU that leads to the unpaved Salem Lake Trail, which loops around Salem Lake.
As others have said, there is a paved bike path that goes to Salem Lake. That has a 7 mile dirt loop around it about one car wide. Its all bikers, walkers, and runners and can get busy during nice weekend days. There are also other, single track trails coming off of that in different areas. Other than that I'm not sure what W-S has. I'm in Greensboro and we have quite a few trails but its a bit of a drive to come here for them. Why don't you ask at 4 Runners Only running store in W-S. If anybody could point you in the right direction they'd probably be there.
I went to grad school there. Look for the trails by Reynolda Gardens and Wake Forest cross country trails. Even better are the dirt and paved paths in Bethabra Park. Just make sure to do some exploring, and find the the ones off Reyonlda road.
beware rabid dogs
Try Tanglewood Park. Lots of single-track bike trails to run on. Also trails along the river, along 158.
Try Camel-Kool running
For the 7- mile loop, is it that park under construction right now? I'm only there for a day, so I don't feel like wasting all of it to go to Tanglewood of Wake...
no, salem lake is not under construction. it's not really a park, rather a parking lot with a boat ramp and a trail that runs for 7 miles around the lake.
Yes, I found Peynolds Park last time and did not feel like going further on that run to cross under the bridge into the lake area. I ran from the park to Salem Creek paths, to the lake trail, and back. It is awesome when you're used to pavement. I also should have gone into little trails shooting uphill off of the main one into the woods- looked like some intense stuff. Thanks all.
