Amazing.
GOAT!

No offence, but who are we talking about? Black page for what?
No sub-17, no black page.
Ultra expert,

PS. Plus he downplayed how he was going for the WR. WIth those weather conditions, of course he was going for it.

I think you mean sub-14. However, this mistake doesn’t take away from your expertise.
The answer should have been, "When some dude no one has ever heard (the 2nd place finisher) of us also breaks a 'famous course record', then you realize the CR wasn't all that good to begin with."
If someone offered $250,000 for the first sub-17, who doesn't think an African runner would break it the 1st year that there was good weather?
Great performance once again by Walmsley at WS100, but... where was the competition? Other than Hazen, nobody had a chance to challenge him. And Jim had Jared's number all along. There wasn't any depth in the men's field.
Like we didn't already know Jim was the best American at runable ultras.
Now Tim Tollefson, that guy is breaking new ground for American mountain running in the international scene, taking on the World's best and beating them.
Tim's victory at Lavaredo is way more meaningful. You want a black page? There you have it.
Because the Brojos hate his LSD-prowess.

THIS. People need to calm down and get reality check.
Everyone has heard of Jared Hazen. He has been Walmsley's protege for over 3 years. He trained with Steve Spence at Ship, putting down 12 mile tempos at 5:15-5:25/mi and 4hr long runs while winning practically ever race Jim didn't enter and has been closing the gap on him. Did you not follow Lake Sonoma this year? 2nd Fastest Performer of All-Time, ahead of your local legends Zach Miller and Sage Canaday, and a slew of other "pros" over the years. He also has the 3rd fastest all-time at the JFK 50 Mile. You're a bit clueless. Are you new to the sport? Welcome.

Does Rojo know something we don't?
Same reason there is no black page for my local turkey trot which has more entrants

False. I’ve never heard of him.

If Rojo said he didn't run sub-17, then he didn't run sub-17. Walmsley's 14 and change time is FAKE NEWS

This is the correct answer. Same reason there isn’t one every time someone walks to a win

You know nothing about running. Weather was the key to the performances. Prior CRs were set in nastier hot weather.

Sub 14**. and Course** record (not world).
Very much wrong take. In the past (his first WS when he ended up on the highway, and the following year when he DNFd with GI issues) his goal was primarily a new course record, not just a win. In the time since his focus shifted. This year (and last) yes, he was interested in the course record, and ideally by a significant margin both times, but he was more interested in the win. To beat a very dead horse, the longer the race the more that can go wrong, especially on trails (even though it was a cool year, high temps on the course were still in the 80s), etc. It was clear to any astute follower that he was interested in the CR, but yes, relative to proclamations of his in prior years, the win (leaving as a repeat winner) was more important. His first year, it seemed it was huge course record, or screw it. A podium finish didn't seem important to him then.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
