I'm his manager and coach. Although I put him forward in March he was denied entry as I was told they had over 300+ athletes already registered. I asked simply for a spot on the line since he was living in Duluth, but no such luck. So I made sure he was eligible to still receive money as an open athlete before registering him in this fashion. What I'm a bit perturbed about is that I wasn't offered the chance to put him on a waiting list, the same list that several of my friends were allowed to be placed on... He also placed 3rd in the Grandma's half last year..
Anyway, we are thrilled that he won. Perhaps this race will be a bit more lenient next year.
1. When u say you put him forward in March, what does that mean? Were you asking for free entry, travel expense, or something else? Seems to me if they had already comped 300+ then it’s reasonable for them to cap at some point.
2. What’s the deal with the wait list? Was this all about getting comped entry?
