So the US women routed Thailand today 13-0 in the women's World Cup. Some have criticized the US for running up the score. Abby Wambach has defended the US team and says people criticizing the US are being sexist.

I 100% disagree. I think if an American men's team was clowning around up 13 to 0 the reaction might even be bigger than it is for the US women.
I've got no issue with the goals but the celebrations when we were already in double digits were over the top in my opinion.
And I"m not the only one thinking that. 4 Canadian women commentators ripped the Americans' actions. 3 of them called it "disgraceful."
Other words they used were:
"Unacceptable"
"Unnecessary"
"Disrespectful."
"Embarrassed"
See it for yourself.

I'm not a big proponent of grandstanding following a win, goal etc. in any sport. Or running up the score. But running up the score is a coaches decision and responsibility, not the players. Theirs is to play and score. Who knows if putting in second string players would make any difference. That being said I also don't watch women soccer, or any other"team" related sport for that matter. Except perhaps the Bruins when in the playoff's, like now. The local watering hole I sometimes frequent with my wife serves free jello shots with every Bruins goal.
