Craig Mottram telling the Flotrack kids to get f#cked was pretty damn funny.

For her to say the performance was special doesn't mean she thinks it was exceptional. It means that it was special in some way to her. To win a third title seems like it would be pretty special, especially to the person doing the winning.

She is embarrassingly quick to state how “special” her performances have been of late (her post-race interview with flotrack is even worse). Very arrogant for someone so far off an impressive performance.
Statistically speaking, a three in a row NCAA champ is special. Or unique - or whatever layman's term you'd like to apply to the frequency of this feat happening.
How many people have tried to win at NCAAs?
How many people have gotten first place?
How many people have gotten first multiple years?
How many people have gotten first 3 years in a row?
The final set of the four listed above is in fact rather small relative to the other sets - aka special.
Congratulations for stating that winning three times is statistically unlikely. You’re welcome to address the points raised at any time, if you feel so inclined:
(1) Saying “what I’ve done is really special” over and over again is arrogant.
(2) She’s not that special, the competition just sucks. Go on, turn up to Pre / a DL chase. See how “really special” you are (try not to get lapped in the meantime).

100% this.

Yet you keep saying the same things, over and over again.

Hopefully next interview she will say it was pretty special for her personally, but she understands that it was definitely not special for some specific haters on LR.

You do realise this isn't all about you?
She wasn't trying to diminish your brilliant Special Olympics performances with her use of the word special.

Irony? Learn words please.
I like her and wish her well, but the quote is lame at best and not very original. How that could be the quote of the year is beyond words. Regardless, she'll do really, really well if she keeps at it after College.

Her best event in the future could be the marathon, she could run low 2:20s.

After all the trolling on this thread, someone has topped it with a true display of creepiness.

I agree
She is hilarious. I just followed her on Instagram. Some of her posts show more wit than I have ever encountered on LetsRun, and am ever likely to encounter.
If you think she's arrogant, then listen to the next sentence in that interview, to the effect, "I really rank low in that department," meaning looks.

It is key that she said "right now", which is why it's humor and not self-loathing.
Great 3-peat! Best of luck this fall - hope you get that NCAA XC title. Best wishes-
Some moron thinks that her post-race interview was arrogant? For saying the following:
“It feels amazing. I said (at the pre-meet press conference) that a lot of the things I”ve done in the NCAA have been done before and this is just my own and that feels really special,” said Ostrander.
That's ridicioulous.
Here is the interview in full.

AllieO is a hoot. Had me laughing watching the interview just after her win. She looked like toast after the steeple, so not surprised to see her run over 1 min slower than her PR in the 5K. I'm not sure why she didn't scratch the 5K, and call it a great day at that point. Maybe she would have felt guilty doing so after keeping someone else from running Nationals by qualifying at Regionals (I've heard this reasoning before by others)?
I've never understood doubling in distance races. Why risk injuries?
