You don’t think the people who gave their lives for our freedom want us to be happy?
They want you to be happy, but not about their deaths.
You're just being intentionally obtuse at this point. Memorializing someone in a happy fashion is not the same thing as being happy about their death.

But ya, murica! Pro military and tanks and blowing stuff up.
Germany? Seriously? They should honor German military history, not with a single day, but a sound beating of each and every individual for all eternity.
America, for all her many faults, and regardless of how you misspell it, will, for at least several more decades, run a distant second to the arrogance of Germany.
So suck a hairy one, mein freund.

There’s nothing at all obtuse about my post. Perhaps you meant another word?

You are pretending to be slow to understand that a happy day of memorial is not the same thing as being happy about a person's death. That is what obtuse means.

Incorrect. You said they would want us to be happy and I agreed with you. If I am obtuse, then logically so are you.
I tell the military families in my town that I’m going to Home Depot to celebrate.

Americans just drink themselves to death and it’s typically considered the start of summer. Though this year seems like the summer is a few weeks away.
+1. Proof that global warming is made up
Happy Memorial day

Memorial Day is the day we celebrate (and memorialize) those who have died serving in the military.
Veteran’s Day is the day we celebrate (and say thanks to) those who previously served in the military.
Armed Forces Day is the day we celebrate (and thank) those who are currently serving in the military.

Do we really need 3 military days in America? Seems excessive. In Germany they combine the 3 into one day.
But ya, murica! Pro military and tanks and blowing stuff up.
Each has their own historical significance one beginning in the late 1800s, one after WW1 (called something different) and one after the 1950 consolidation.
I’ll let you do the research yourself.
The not so distance future war will not involve tanks but instead drones of various sizes and abilities.

It is interesting that Alan Webb responded to a memorial day thread when 2004 is in his username. We all know what event happened 15 Memorial's ago. Bekele got the 5000m WR of 12:37. He always was the greatest.

Can I say, “Have a gay Memorial Day!”? Or, does that offend your little baby ears and trigger your pearl clutching reflex?
Seriously, I am so sick of all the snowflakes out there with their rules about what you can and cannot say! Why is the victim mentality so prevalent among our population!?!
Today is the day we remember when Rambo saved Jesus from the Easter Bunny.
Never forget.

July 4th is another pro military rah-rah day.
Say “Drunken Memorial Day” instead.
