My boss's boss. He's on the board of directors for Wingstop, if any of you know what that is. I don't know his net worth, but he's rolling in enough to have a lavish vacation home in New Mexico and multiple luxury cars.

Surely you are uneducated. What language is your original post written in?
Bill Haslam, former TN Governor. I believe his family is the richest in Tennessee. When he was mayor of Knoxville he frequently came into the local running store for a new pair of Kayanos. Great guy, big friend to the running community. Would run most local races.
Mike Bloomberg.
Worked there, had dinner w/ him and colleagues in the 90s
Roger Penske. He is worth about 1.5 bil. Met him professionally.
My mom knows Bernard Marcus' daughter and has met Bernie a couple of times at big events. Bernie is worth about $5 bil. My mom went to their new year's eve party. It was a pretty exclusive event with about 200-300 guests. There was a band stand. Everyone thought that some local cover band would come out to play so people could dance. Joe Cocker played a show instead.

I did some stock trading for a super wealthy finance type back in the ‘80s. But then the douche bag bought the airline my father worked for with the plan of liquidating the company and raiding the penchant fund. I managed to stop him from going through with it, but the whole thing really derailed my life and career.
Bud, I'm not talking about some working wall street stiff, making $400,00, flying first class and living comfortably. I'm talking about LIQUID. Rich enough to have your own jet. 50, 100 million dollars..... a player.
I've been in the presence of Bill Gates and the Queen (Elizabeth II) but not to talk to directly. And I've met/talked to a few people who would be in some national or global rich lists, but don't tend to bother to remember them. In my experience the best conversations and sharpest minds don't tally with wealth.
I borrowed Warren Buffet's car to pick up a carry-out pizza. His car was blocking mine in.
The cheapest person I've probably ever met is also probably the wealthiest. She's sitting on many hundreds of millions of dollars, yet she lives in a duplex and rents the other section out to tenants (she converted her large family estate into a duplex). She haggles over everything. She always holds up check out lanes in town with coupons and price checks. She'll try to order half size portions for half price when she infrequently dines out, and she tips with pocket change. She drives a jalopy. She likely only buys clothing at thrift stores (she does have excellent taste and always looks elegant, however). She gets her newspapers and magazines from the library bin.

Nelson Bunker Hunt and Benny Binion
I met a couple of almost billionaires and I know one of these Microsoft early retires of the 90ies.
Funny enough they have the same issues as other people. Cancer, difficult kids .....
While the can buy whatever they want, they don't seem that happy as far as I can tell.
But what do I know.
I've met a few billionaires, many people with net worths in the hundreds of millions, and many more in the tens of millions, all due to my work. (I've worked for several large hedge and mutual funds.)
- The people worth hundreds of millions are the most "normal" group. They're comfortable with their level of wealth, enjoy life, and just happen to be at a much higher level than most of us. You can have a very normal conversation with them.
- A lot of the people worth tens of millions tend to be the most off-putting. They want desperately to be in the hundreds of millions group or at least make you think they are, and often "front" by talking about money, constantly. Everything is a contest. "Oh man, did I tell you about the case of Petrus I bought last week? We popped a couple for dinner Tuesday night, and it was just crazy good. But one of the bottles was corked. That sucked LOL. Good thing I had 10 more!" This certainly isn't everyone in this group, but it's common.
- The billionaires I've met were on a different level. They're investment professionals or industry leaders, and it's tough to have a dialog with them as they tend to be very well read, very well informed, and exceedingly skilled at carrying their own opinion. These people are billionaires for a reason and it shows. (I can't speak for the Kardashian types.) At this level they don't talk about or probably even think about their net worth very often. They've moved beyond that and tend to be very meta oriented.
On that note: I'm not sure what the point is of this thread. OP, why do you care?
I used to be pretty friendly with a few people in the Alfond family. If you’re from Maine you have probably heard of them. Worth about $5B. Very nice, modest and generous.
I had dinner “with” (at a table of 8) Stephen and Tabitha King once when I was a college baseball player. He had actually heckled me a couple years prior when I was pitching against Bangor HS at a field bearing his name. They are also very generous in Maine particularly around education.
The more time you spend with wealthy people the more you realize they are usually very normal people with plenty of normal problems. We’re all just doing the best we can.
Jeff Bezos, his nephew went to my school
Probably Beyonce.
Met Ned Johnson a few times. currently worth $7.5B.
A few VC guys well into the hundreds of millions
When I was in student accommodation at university I shared a big apartment with 8 others and one was the son of Nigerian businessman. He would get a taxi just to go to the grocery store 300 m down the road. Another was the son of the Zimbabwean ambassador to the UK and he used to be picked up in a chauffeur driven limousine every day to go to classes. There was a number of aristocrats in my year, including a German baron. And a Russian guy who was one of my closest friends at university got to Stanford business school to do his post-grad and is now one of the richest men in the Ukraine. Had dinner with him again last year.

This means he owns three donkeys instead of just one.
I had the privilege of going to the White House and meeting Donald Trump. I think his fortune is estimated to be about $15 billion.
